I have been following the "Why water injection is the best mod I've done in years..." thread, and in the interest of not hijacking that thread, I have the following question.

For those of you with water injection, when (what boost) and where (in the intake track) do you inject?

In my setup, (Aquamist 1S) I was injecting in the TBE set to come on at 16+ psi Boost. However, with this setup even though it allows me to run 18-19 lbs of boost on pump gas, didn't completely aid in running a good time at the track - Bandimere.

So before the question is asked, here are the basics of my setup when I ran that time:

98 Talon Tsi
sm 16G (19 lbs of boost)
Wallbro 255, RC 550 injectors
Alamo Large side mount (8x8x6")
Brode UIC 1G bov
3" exhaust turbo back with high flow cat and magnaflow muffler.
DSMlink, boost / afr Gauges

Since I made that run, I have moved my point of injection to the J-Pipe, per some reccommendations on other WI forums I am subscribed to, and it "seems" that it has helped a little. Only a run at the track will tell.

My thought on WI is to inject when "needed" vs. just to inject for the sake of injecting. What I mean by this is to tune first, inject second.

What I have done is ran the car with the WI turned off, turned the boost up until I started to get some knock, tuning accordingly on DSMLink and then set my WI to come on a lb or two before that boost. I then made more runs with the WI turned on and continued tuning to just before the threshold of knock.

So what are your experiences? Any suggestions? I would like to see if I can optimize my setup a little better.

Thanks.
