Well I think my mod list is up to date so if you want to check that first..

Anyway last time I was in GA and actualy got to take my car out, I noticed it was knocking in the 3400-3800ish area via DSMLink. Everything was still zeroed out, hadn't done any tuneing myself. Just made a few logs.

So I had to pull alot of timeing and added a hair more fuel just for the heck of it, To get rid of the knock. Now the thing is still not tuned cause I dont really know what im doing yet. And I will likely take it to a reputable dyno shop and ask them to try to get more power out of it while keeping it safe.

But untill then, im wondering what would help me deal with this better, and give me a power boost. Water injection I would suspect will get rid of the knock there, and let me put the ignition timeing back where the car defently liked it. (felt alot better)

Or is there a possibility that something like HKS 264's would also solve my problem? I have heard of a few case's where people were knocking a little and when they changed out there cam's the porblem vanished.

Tuning is everything, I suggest you take the time and learn how to use dsmlink yourself. Just go over to the dsmlink forums and search and search. It took me a good while to learn how to use the program myself but, after a couple months and alot of trial and error I'm confident in my capabilities now.

I'd suggest a wideband over W/I and cams also. :thumb:

Any suggestions on which wideband to use? Im not after the biggest bang for the buck. Something in the middle. good but not top of the line pricey.

If you have a 1g don't get the PLX wideband, it's a great wideband but you can't accurately datalog it. For ease of use, capability, and price the AEM gauge wideband and Zeitronix are probably the best bet.

If you need help tuning, post a datalog on here or the Dsmlink forums, and people will help you out.

i also recommend the aem uego wideband over the cams and WI. since you have dsmlink, the wideband will assit in tuning and getting a few horses out of the car as is. then get either the WI kit or cams. thats what i did, but havent installed the cams yet, next on the list is definitely WI.

for the money you would spend on cams or WI, you can get a wideband set up, i got the aem uego but the zeitronix is also a good one to consider.

I would choose H2O/meth, then wideband, then cams in your case. Your primary concern appears to be knock. A 50% mix would suppress your knock issues without having to use fuel to do so. Regardless of tuning gains, I believe in injection just for the extra cleaning/cooling/safety benefits. Wideband isn't required to get rid of knock but to get a nice refined tune easier. Also, you indicate not knowing much about tuning and having a shop do it for you -- well they will have a wideband bung to clip to your exhaust. Cams is the last thing you need until you get that knock under control and can look to more power.

A wideband would be a good bet here... I used the zeitronix. Its nice because you can log on a $20 ebay palm pilot, or straight into dsmlink... As a matter of fact, dsmlink has a loggable value called ZTWB02 which is for displaying and logging your wideband when wired in through the rear oxygen sensor wire. Comes out in a nice and friendly A/F ratio, not a voltage between 0-5V.

Neat stuff when you go to make a pull and you see exactly what A/F ratio you were running at any given rpm.

With the assistance of a wideband, you should be able to tune out any knock problems your having. If it doesnt, think about the possiblity that it is a phantom knock from a sticky lifter, or excessive rod bearing oil clearance, etc. There is a possiblity that the knock sensor isnt even actually sensing "detonation"

reaffirming what the guy said 2 posts ago, i would get meth injection to supress knock, improve timing, and add octane. other than nitrous, it is the most cost effective mod imo. plus it's safe. cams are not gonna help your problem

Alright sounds like I will go with the WI, I know the DSMlink should be a "decent" tune anyway since it has defalt settings for the 750cc's in there and the MAFT setup.

One other quick question about the wideband setups though, how do you set it up to log on the DSMLink? I know someone said something about wireing it into the 2nd o2 sensor....well problem with that. Im driveing a 1g. LOL.

The DSMLink forums should be able to help you with how to wire in the Wideband...I also agree that a wideband is probably your best bet...however, here is a fairly good tuning resource for tuning with the DSMLink...I still suggest a wideband as DSMLink's estimated air/fuel ratio is not always accurate...
