Water cooled Large turbos

Why do you not see more water cooled turbos on the DSM's? I'm in the process of ordering an H-3 from Bullseye power, and I'm looking to have it watercooled. I'm looking for varying theories here... Thanks

Do you mean to try and add water cooling to one that wasn't built with it?

Actually, all turbochargers from Garrett can be built with a water-cooled bearing housing. Its just that most shops choose not too, the water cooled bearing housings cost a few dollars more and are harder to find. I don't think Garrett used a water cooled bearing housing OEM since the Chrysler LeBaron turbo, so you can imagine there isn't much of a demand for it. Due to many requests, we decided to offer it for our DSM upgrades. If it can increase the longevity of a turbocharger, why not? Water-cooled option

Interesting. Given the choice, why would anyone not go to a wc spool? Too lazy to plumb it?

That's possible, so we are planning to make an inexpensive and simple water line kit. I think the biggest obstacle is that there aren't any turbo shops offering their upgrades with a watercooled bearing housing. So if its not available it just leaves you no choice.

Dave... It's Emmanuel (ordered the H-3 from you couple of days ago). I'm pretty pumped up about the WC center section option. Also, I forgot to include the 5-ply elbow on the order, include that in the final billing. Happy Holidays
