I have a 1991 eagle talon tsi awd w/ a stuck wastegate (shut) i was wondering how hard it would be to change myself. im new to tunning so any info would be appreciated.

Your problem is that probably the wastegate itself is not stuck, but the WG actuator is stuck, or just broken after a hard long life of use. I'd reccomend changing the WG actuator first, and seeing if the WG moves then, if not, then ask us again.

But, If you want to change the WG actuators first.....
Changing an internal wastegate is actually very simple. There is really only a few things that need to be removed.

1. Circled in BLUE, remove the vacuum hose that is connected to the wastgate actuator.
2. Circled in GREEN, remove the snap pin that connects the WG actuator arm to the WG flapper handle, and pop the actuator arm off the handle.
3. Circled in RED, remove these 2 12mm bolts that hold the WG actuator assembly to the turbo's compressor housing. The WG assembly should now just fall off.

Now simply replace w/ a new actuator and reverse these steps.

****Nows a good time to check to see if your Wastegate is actually stuck or not. With the wastegate assembly off, just move, w/ your finger, the WG arm that you popped, off, the part that is still on the turbo, This is your actual WG flapper inside the turbo, If you can move it, then it works, If you can't move it at all, then its stuck.

Hope this helps, Dan
