Hi guys I did look for this, the lines for the wastegate but nothing was very clear? I am getting a turbo smart wastegate 38 mm Its going on with a 54mm garret turbo going for 500hp. My exhaust manifold has a flange off to the side to accept the wastegate

My question there are two nipples on the wastegate from what I have learned the top one is for pressure going in and the bottom for it to relase right? but where do you hook up those lines for the waste gate do they go to the intake manifold, or the j pipe, the MBC?

Question two, the wastegate comes off from the exhaust manifold. but there is an exit port for it like on your BOV, if I leave the wastegate to vent to atmosphere will it cause problems. I see you can buy a o2 housing that will hook up to the entry of the wastegate and then the exit, I know if you leave the BOV to vent to atmosphere it will cause problems, unless you have a translator and air sensor. But that is another subject anyways I hope these questions are not to dumb and I just couldnt find the info but no one really said were the wastegate vacum lines hooked up to?

Thanks!

I believe you only use the top port for your vacume line to your BC? Someone correct me if im wrong! If your wastegate is mounted off your exhaust manifold then I believe you need a pipe thats flanged to fit the wastegate to dumb down some where close to exhaust downpipe. Im not 100% sure but i think thats right :ohdamn:

When a BOV opens up it atmosphere (on a stock setup) your losing METERED air that the ECU thinks is making its way into the engine. When a WG opens up to atmosphere your creating a controlled exhaust leak to control boost levels. If your not running a dump tube on the wastegate your car won't have any problems but since its off the exhaust manifold you might melt a radiator fan from the heat if you don't have a dump tube. I suggest having a shop weld up a tube to the wastegate to dump it down by the downpipe that way you won't be melting anything.

The blank flanges for the Turbosmart 38mm wg are the below part numbers, depending on the type of material your welding with depends on the flange you get.
WG38 Weld Flanges - Stainless TS-0501-2001
WG38 Weld Flanges - Mild Steel TS-0501-2002

Thanks that website did help with vacum, but regarding the exit port of the wastegate do I leave it to vent to atmosphere or should I get a o2 housing that hooks up to entry and exit?

You can run it either way. Leaving it venting to atmo will be louder though. Also, you dont want it pointing towards anything but the ground.

thank you for all the info it is alot of help, Im going to be getting a 57 trim or 50 trim garret turbo .63 AR. And well I could get it internal or external well if I go external I need to buy a o2 or another turbo manifold that has a flange for the wastegate, well they say external help with boost creep and controls it better then internal, I have never messed with it but its about 500$ just to get the setup for external a lil much. If you ask me like 250 for a o2 housing or 300-400 manifold and then another 200-300 for wastegate Im hopeing for high 400hp when I get back from deployment, heck I might just stick with internal but thanks for all the info I have saved all the pages!
