Wastegate opening @ 5psi

I just installed an o2 dump for my 16g... I never noticed it before when it was recirced. But now as soon as my boost gauge reads 5psi the I can hear the wastegate dumping? It isn't stuck open, and it hits boost fine, just opens at 5psi?

The internal gates are rated to about 8 to 10 psi so it's not surprising that it starts to open at 5.

I have an external 38mm wastegate set at about 16-17 psi, I can hear it start to open around 13 psi. Does your car seem to take long for full boost?

No, if I am cruising in first at 1k rpm I can mash it and have 10psi just below 3k rpms. I guess it ins't a true problem. Just annoying knowing it should slam open at 10psi .

It shouldn't.

If you have a spring that takes 10 pounds of pressure to fully depress then it will start to open earlier.

Thank's! I guess it won't bother me any longer. Now time to fix this nasty o2 housing to downpipe leak and fix the boost creep.
