So i just wrapped up my mhi 16g install, everything seems to be dandy except for the fact that the wastegate is open is at idle(internal). I know this because I am running atmospheric dump. I had it idling for about 15 minutes last night and it quite obvious that exhaust is escaping there (from the sound). Why would the gate be open at idle? Everything is hooked up correctly which i triple checked.

Any help is appreciated.

Does the actuator rod just need to be adjusted? When I ran a 20g mine was adjustable but it came from a reputable source. Look at it and see if it has adjustment threads and a lock nut and readjust it to stay closed is what it sounds like.

It is not adjustable. It's basically a brand new MHI 16g, that has been sitting on my shelf in my garage for a few years.

Has anyone had to run a washer as a spacer on the wastegate actuator where it bolts to the housing?

I haven't but have read about them being used, so give it a shot. The only other alternative is to bend the actuator rod so I would shim it with washers and see if you can get it shut that way.
