Was there ever a factory fender with an air dam?

Ok, I'm currently browsing around rockauto.com, I was originally looking for a good price on a new front bumper which I found by the way, 40 bucks cant go wrong.

Back on point, I was browsing around in the fenders and I have 2 different part numbers, one says with side air dam while the other says without side air dam. To my knowledge, I have never seen fenders with a factory air dam.

Can someone shed some light on this for me, because when I googled they both look exactly the same.

Part numbers (left/right):

W/ Air dam - MI1240131/MI1241131

W/O Air dam - MI1240132/MI1241132

If someone has pictures of this factory side air dam I would be ever grateful.

They might be referring to the side skirt provisions. The 2gb Talon didn't come with side skirts so the fender wouldn't have holes for the plastic snaps that hold the side skirts on.

I may just have to call and ask. I had my skirt cap off the other day and didn't notice anything special about the mounting points

I'm guessing the air dam refers to the stock plastic tubing thingy that is supposed to direct air towards the air filter area. It sits in the inner fender area. I guess it's Mitsu's version of a cold air intake. Don't get too exited about it though, as CAI's go, it's pretty lame.

Ah gotcha, I was hoping for a different oem style. Might as well go for the ones without since they are 20 bucks cheaper, and throw some fender flares on.

This is correct. The backside of the side skirts has "air dam" etched onto them. So it is referring to whether or not it has holes drilled for the OEM skirts.
