I welded some -10 an fittings to my valve cover and around the one fitting was some parosity. I got it powder coated thinking it would cover the porosity but it didn't. So I went back to grinding it and welding it to fill the holes. I noticed the valve cover is severly warped from all this welding. My thought is to clamp it down and heat the whole thing with a torch and letting it cool to straighten it by I'm not too sure how well this will work. Any ideas? Thanks

Mine was warped from just being used. I just tightend it down anyway and it went down straight, with no leaks, but im sure you probably wont want to do this because it can strip a thread hole. Your idea seems like it will work, if you are careful with the heating, aplying to much heat to aluminum and it can start to melt easily. Also make sure you clamp it straight or elsyou will be back to square one LOL. Goodluck

Yea the warp is pretty bad. I should of clamped down the VC when welding but its too late now. I will up date with some pics and progress.

Yea that would have been a good idea. Lol but oh well. Let us know what happens when you straighten it incase anyone els needs to do it, these vc are known for warping then cracking.

Got some updates on this. The valve cover is pretty bad as you can see. This table is perfectly flat for reference.

I grabbed a piece of .5" X 11" HRS to drill and tap as a torque plate for further welding and hopefully a solution to the warped aluminum. If it doesn't straighten out after welding I will have to bake the whole thing in an oven for a bit at 400-500*. If that still doesn't work I will be buying a new VC and torquing it down before any welding happens to prevent this current problem.

God damn! Your shits fudged up! LOL Kurt, stop messing around and put your car back together and run it. Just put some saran wrap over top of the head in place of the VC for now haha.
