So I'm looking for a fiberglass hood for my GST. Now, before anyone starts talking about CF, I want fiberglass because I can paint it, modify it easily without worries, and it SHOULD be cheaper than an carbon one... I just can't find any...does anyone even make a fiberglass hood for these cars?

I hope to find something...because if I can find fiberglass hoods for a 93 Silvia in the US, then by all means I should be able to find a fiberglass hood for my DSM....

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

For the record, working with carbon fiber is similar to working with fiberglass. Bought a damaged VIS hood for super cheap and fixed the cracks. Another interesting tidbit is that the VIS hoods are not 100% carbon. The bottom half is fiberglass. Found that out from having to repair the various cracks. You can paint carbon fiber, as well.

Just an idea, since finding a used CF hood, or even a new one is probably easier and actually tend to about the same price as the fiberglass ones.

It's not just paint, I was going to modify it with a couple of vents for heat extraction, which I know would be easier in fiberglass than carbon, despite the similarities. Also from looking at prices $225 for glass vs around $400 for a cheap CF... Thanks for the tip on Frank's!

You can still easily modify it. Find a crap cf hood and have at it.

almost none of the US market CF hoods are 100% carbon, they are all fiberglass with a carbon sheet overtop of it. VIS hoods are "single side carbon" which has naked fiberglass on is underside, while the normal seibon hoods are double sided, with carbon on the outside and underside of the hood, but its still fiberglass underneath.

100% carbon fiber hoods are generally around $2000, and are listed as "dry carbon" hoods, seibon does make these as well, but not for a dsm as far as i know.
