I have installed my walbro in my talon. My question is whether or not I have to have a FPR (fuel pressure regulator) to run the car.

You need a FPR whether you have a wally or not. Your car comes stock with one, but the stock FPR is not sufficient for your new pump.

The question should be do I need an aftermarket one? The answer is yes it is highly recommended to get an aftermarket FPR for anything larger than the 190lph.

Don't forget to rewire the sucker:thumb:

the car comes factory with a fpr, if you havent removed it, then i dont see why you would have to put in another one just because you changed the fuel pump. someone correct me if im wrong

It's recommended because of FPR overrun. When you have a high output fuel pump installed sometimes the restrictive return on the stock FPR cannot bypass enough fuel back to the tank. The result is that the fuel pump flow overruns the return flow and the rail pressure slowly rises. When this happens (usually at low airflow, low pulsewidth, -idle and low throttle cruise especially) the increasing rail pressure makes the injectors deliver more fuel than commanded and you'll have a rich idle and difficulty controlling idle speed. -Which can be fairly confusing when trying to dial in the proper settings for the injectors.

Not everyone using a high flow pump has a problem with overrun, but in order to completely rule it out as ever being a problem, a higher flowing aftermarket regulator is needed. Most will opt for a unit that is base pressure adjustable and uses a vacuum reference from the manifold to raise fuel pressure on a 1:1 ratio with boost. By doing that it simplifies tuning because it maintains a constant pressure differential (fuel rail pressure vs intake manifold boost pressure) across the injector, which keeps the injector flow rate as static a value as possible.
