The installation doesent look to hard for me. Does the 255 need a rewire for it to work like it should.

I've seen the flow differences for 12volt. To 13.5 volt and there's quite a good amount of differences.

Just wondering if I should expect problems if I don't rewire.

And can anyone tell me if I should get a new sock for the 255?

There's one on there but it looks a little old.

As phunny mentioned, do the rewire and never worry about it again.

I answered this in your other thread.

It's probably fine as long as there are no tears or obvious clogged up areas, and is still soft and flexible. I've reused them countless times and never had an issue.

Slosh it around in some gas a few times and bolt 'er up. ;)

One question but what does the rewire do and is there a thread showing a walk through

I tried finding that thread what's the title of it.

ROFL

Seriously? It's your own thread that you started less than two hours ago.

(I found it again by looking at your recent posts in your profile)

You will probably be fine reusing it if it isn't clogged up and is still soft and flexible. (I've reused them countless times with no issues). Just rinse it out in some gas and bolt it up. If you want the extra peace of mind, just put a new one on like Adam said.

Typing "fuel pump rewire" into a title only search brings up 128 threads on the topic, including these tech articles:

Come on guys... you have to make at least some effort. :)

Heh sorry
I am too on my phones web browser and at school also.

is it worth $100.00 for someone to install and rewire the 255.
I have an offer from someone more expierenced to do the job for 100.

Any fuel pump rewire is the same. Only difference is the color of the wires supplying power to the fuel pump.

Thick wire from battery goes to relay input. Thick wire exits relay and goes to fuel pump. Old fuel pump supply is used to trigger the relay. Ground for relay and fuel pump is taken from a clean spot on the chassis.

Thanks for the quick info.I about to go outside and start tearing into it.:thumb:

The member that posted the diagrams just told me that the diagrams are absolutly NOT for the 420A:confused:Does anyone Know exactlly how to wire up for a 420A? Also I see that the relays I have, have a center prong,5 prongs instead of 4 prongs like in the pictures.

Anybody with a 420A-T do this rewire?

If you don't feel confident to do the job yourself, I say pay the $100 for the peace of mind.

Before paying to get it installed look at the guides on how to install it here on the forums, if after viewing them you still don't feel comfortable then just pay it. but the install is actually pretty easy and only takes about an hour to do

i found this post researching how to's on fuel rewires, so atleast it wasnt a complete waste. As everyone else said man, id rewire it yourself, its very straight forward, and if your worried about it not being for your car, im positive there is at least a post about what wires are for what for your model. Dig in and have fun with it, dont forget the job isnt done unless u share a little bit of blood. Good luck.

i just picked up a 91 laser rs turbo. The guy told me it had 750cc injectors, B16g turbo, hks BOV, and a 255 pump. now when i got it home and really started to look at stuff more closley, i noticed it has stock blue top 450cc injectors, a stock 14b (with possible shaft play?), its an eabay knock off BOV, and it to me looks like a cheap fuel pressure regulator. so my question is how can i tell if my fuel pump is a 255? is there any way i can tell by just pulling it out and looking? and can any one tell me how much shaft movement is too much?

A 255 pump looks like what u see in the pix of them. The OEM one looks huge by comparison. I can post a pic of a stock pump if u like, but best bet is to know if the pump has a bolted down power and ground, or if it has a clip in harness. Harness is 255lph.

Shaft play is to much when its touching the turbine housing. The short and simple answer that is. There is really so much to that question but if you think its to much, then you should likely at the least rebuild it. The guy probably setup an ebay special. I would not trust anything he claimed.
