I've heard two stories about the walbro 190. some people say that if you're going bigger than a 16g, you'll need a 255lph. And Ive heard some say that the 190lph is good enough for pretty much any setup. Can I please get some advice on this before I choose my fuel pump? Cheers

The 190 ran out of steam on my 2.0 with a Big 16G and cams, yet others have also gone 11's on one. I would personally buy once and buy right the first time. Pick up a 255 HP and make sure you grab an Aeromotive AFPR kit from Import Evolution. While you'll need to spend a bit more for the AFPR (required with a 255) you'll have more than enough fuel supply to the rail for just about any turbo out there.

Hope that helps,

Andy

I would second that. If your going to replace the pump you might as well get a 255 and AFPR. It's worth only doing a job once if you have big plans in the future. Also a rewire should be on the list while your in there.

what size injectors were you using. I want to get a 190lph personally because i dont have the money to get the fpr. I have 560cc evo injectors, a big evo 16g. and will not go past the 20psi point. This is my daily driver and one or two saturdays a month fun car. so it wil not see 20psi daily. will a 190lph rewired btw. handle it. If i upgrade in the future i will do the works, full rebuilt 6 bolt. with j pistons etc, cams, big turbo, 255 with ss lines too and from. jhon shep tranny, you know the works like 6 to 8 grand, works.

Ive heard the same things. I was under the impression a rewired 190 could let me break into the low 12s

As long as you take it easy the 190 pump will work ok. I would definately rewire it if you are going this route to make sure it is using it's full potential. If you have a datalogger watch you O2 and knock readings carefully to make sure it's not starving for fuel on the topend. If you don't have a datalogger.....get one....they are invalueable.

I went 12.5's on stock cams so I'm sure it was low 12's after the cams went in. So there's no reason to surmise that it wouldn't support low 12's.

Mine wouldn't keep up with 650's on standard pump wiring. I know the re-wire would have helped but probably not enough for my purposes. The 255 HP took care of ANY knock issues from inadequate fueling from minute one however.

my walbro 190lph is supposably high pressured. at least according to www.lightningmotorsports.com where i bought it from.

I dont know the flow differences though. I plan on buying 880ccs and Andy if your saying your 190 ran out of steam on 650s then that would lead me to believe 880s would be too much for a 190? I dont plan on running over 20lbs of boost anytime soon, and I still have a 14b for now which I may be able to get my hands on a 16g very soon, but would the 190 in your opinion hold up to say anywhere below 22psi on a 16g? ( I wouldnt run over that)

Was your 190 rewired? This is where Im confused about the 190. Some say its great and others say not enough.
