Alright I'm buying a new turbo back set up and I was just wondering how the VRS stuff is from slowboyI haven't much about it. The other question is vent in or out I'm really not sure which is better and why and also the price of the set up doesn't bug me. The main thing is does anyone know how good this set up is and should I vent in or out and do I need anything else to vent out.

Thanks.

if your talking about an external o2 dump, i personally would not do it. it will be very loud and annoying. i have the vrs stainless 3'' turboback and it is a very nice exhaust but it is pretty loud and there is really no reason to go this route unless you want your car to sound like it has a broken exhaust.

I have the turbo back from slowboy, it's on a 2g ,we did have a few fittiment issues ,( had to shorten some of the hangar rods on the exhast ) I like the system, it sounds good ,but it will draw attention . If the man pulls you over, cut your motor off before he gets out of his car.

Sweet thanks guys. I didnt Know if there was a real advantage to haveing the O2 dump or not.
Thanks For the feedback though.

I have the 3 inch VRS with the O2 eliminator and it's quiet. I mean it. But the sound is soooo nice and deep. It's worth it IMO.

I have a 2.5 VRS turboback on my car, its on a 2g though. I had no fitment issues at all and the thing sounds awsome. Very straight exhaust too! I'd reccommend it to anyone.

One of my friends has the vrs and it sounds good. For the 02 dump I like the sound I think it will scare the pants off of who ever your racing when it opens up. also its supposed to help with boost creep.

I have the 3" VRS. It's a very nice exhaust and fitment wasn't that bad of an issue. It pretty much bolted right up. But the hangars on the muffler were completly wrong, so I just drove to Midas and they welded up some new hangars for real cheap. As for the sound, it's great. Nice and low at idle, and nice growl at WOT. And the best part is that it doesn't drone while driving on the highway.

I'm looking to get the VRS 3in for a 2G AWD without the o2 housing.

A couple questions...

1. Will the DP bolt up to the stock o2 housing, Evo III, or any other aftermarket o2 housing without issues?

3. I know the turbo back comes with a test pipe. Can I use my stock cat or a hi-flow cat in place of the test pipe that comes with the kit? Meaning will it fit with no issues?

Thanks.

Well, which is it? Are you going to choose to stick with your O2 housing, go with an Evo III O2 housing, or buy the DP with the O2 housing included?

Regarding the Evo III and the fitment with the DP, you may have some issues. I have also been wondering this. Other than finding someone who already has a VRS turbo-back exhaust, I would suggest getting in contact with the company and asking them directly. That would be your best bet.

Why may there be fitment issues? Because the Evo III O2 housing installs at an angle, so some DPs need some modification to work with this particular O2 housing. The original DSM O2 housing should fit just fine.

As you can see in the below photos, the Evo III O2 housing may give you some issues, but I'm sure you can work through them (guess which one is the Evo III housing):

Yes, it should fit with no issues.

Thanks!

I did read the EvoIII o2 is at an angle. I'm looking to run about 450-475 whp. Will the EvoIII o2 housing sufice for that? I would probably get it ported as well.

It depends on your set-up, and how well your entire engine flows all the air and gases (aka volumetic efficiency). Other than that, you should be able to still hit your goal with this housing attached. However, if you're looking for godly power, I'm not sure a ported Evo III O2 housing would be the best choice. And it depends on if you still plan on running with an internal WG or change to an external WG (and where you plan on placing the external WG).

Ok thanks. I'm not sure. I'm planning on a T3/T4 50 or 57 trim turbo. So I hope the EvoIII o2 housing fits on it.

Thanks. I do not want an o2 delete or have it dump to atmospheric, that's why I don't want the VRS o2 housing.

Also, will that SLS o2 housing fit on a t3/t4 turbo?

Does anyone have pictures of one of these installed on a 1GA FWD? I am looking for a stock appearing exhaust for my FWD.

So which is it? In post #10 you were looking at VRS products, and now you are looking at something else. Go to the top of the page and see what the title of the thread is. This thread regards VRS products. If you have questions about other products, search through the forums or start a new thread and ask your questions. Please don't start hijacking threads - it doesn't help or pertain the the OP.

You don't like to find the info yourself, do you? Look at the link below. The O2 housing does not dump into the atmosphere. The gases are rerouted like OEM.

If you're really curious, get into contact with the company.

I think you misunderstood me. I do want the VRS turbo-back system (which is the topic of this thread). However, I want to run a different o2 housing (not an o2 delete housing like VRS has). So my question is, what fairly inexpensive o2 housing (i.e. Evo III o2) will bolt onto the VRS DP and a t3/t4 50 or 57 trim turbo and be good for 450-475whp?

I tried calling them. They put me on hold for 5 min and I gave up.

With VRS, "o2 elim" just means that they make their own o2 housing (tubular) with the wastegate dump routed back in or not depending on your preference, and it has the o2 bung on the downpipe, rather than the "o2 housing".

It does NOT mean that they don't give you a place to put your o2 sensor.

EDIT: I was a bit confused when I ordered my O2 elim downpipe, as I thought it was going to be all one piece. Its not, and is essentially the same as buying a tubular o2 housing, and a seperate downpipe. I am not sure if any other o2 housing will bolt up, and would suggest just getting the VRS o2 elim

AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! OK! I thought it got rid of the bung completely. Will their o2 housing (with wastegate dumped back in) fit on a T3/T4 50 or 57 trim?

I don't see any resonators on the cat-back. In this thread some people say it's loud (the 3 in) and some people say it isn't? Which is it???

If it is loud, how much quieter would it be if I use my stock cat in place of the test pipe?

You can order it in different configs, and if you go straight from VRS, they allow you to choose your muffler, tip, and decide whether you want them to add in a resonator or not.

Define T3/T4... In normal terms, no, their exhaust system will not bolt up. BUT because you're a dsmer, you may be referring to a t3/t4 turbo as a t4 compressor (T04B housing for instance) with a "bolt on" DSM/Garret Hybrid exhaust turbine housing.

Any "Bolt on" turbo (ie if it bolts up to your manifold) will be able to use the VRS exhaust. Any TRUE full garret T3/T4 turbo will not, as the turbine housing will have a different inlet and outlet flange than their mitsu counterparts.

Awesome, I didn't know you can ask them to add a resonator. Looks like I'll definately go with them.

Yeah a hybrid turbo. I was thinking of going with Turbonetics T3/T4 T04E...

This one: http://turboneticsinc.com/turbo_t3t4.htm

A turbo straight from t-netics will not bolt on to your manifold, nor the VRS exhaust system.

If you order a similar turbo (even with the exact same t-netics compressor and wheel) with a PTE turbine housing, ie: LINKY

Than your manifold and the VRS exhaust system will bolt up. Understand that "bolt on" affairs are rarely quite as easy as they sound.
