So I am looking at ordering a Viper 5701 system off of ebay for my Talon. I have a couple questions that I hope can be answered. My first question is my talon does not have power locks, is there a way I can make them power? and my second question is does anyone else have the Viper 5701 system installed in a 1g DSM? I have heard mixed reviews about the Viper 5701 and I want to hear how it works for any other DSM owners out there before I purchase it.

quite a reftrofit to make them power. amost easier to get door panels from a car with electric locks.

Yeah that's what I figured. I think I am still going to buy the 5701 kit but just use it with the manual locks. What I want to know is is the remote start worth it? Does it actually work correctly? Any other DSM drivers out there with a Viper or Python remote start does it work fine for you?

I had issues with the remote un pairing itself from the alarm. Its not a big deal just becomes a pain having to re-program it. Cool feature is the turbo timer that you can adjust if you need it. As for the actuators, they're not hard to do, just a little time consuming.

Do you know a brand and part number or an auto parts store I can get them from?

Nice choice of Talon BTW :D

I know you can buy them I was wondering how hard they are to put in

I can't speak for the 1g, but when I had to retrofit them into my civic it was pretty easy. If all you care about is being able to lock/unlock the doors with a remote, you can get door lock poppers that screw into the sheet metal of the door and clamp onto the lock rod. When given voltage they either pull or push the lock rod, locking or unlocking the door. I think I paid $20 for a pair when I did them.

Oh nice that's way cheaper than I thought it would be. I will have to pick up a set because these manual locks suck LOL

Haha Thanks! You can pick up the actuators at any car audio shop or even bestbuy. Like mentioned above they're only about twenty bucks. The 5701 come with the relay to run the actuators, and they come with wiring instructions.

Yup those will work. The relay is actually a two in one deal. Sooo it does lock and unlock so you wont have worry about that.

But the relays come with the 5701 kit? I just wan to make sure because if they don't I will order some off of amazon

Yes. The model # is 451m. Its specifically for door locks, wether they're stock or after market it'll get the job done.

Alright I ordered a set of actuators and I ordered the viper 5701. Where do you keep the brain for your viper system at?
