hey guys. my 94 talon is vibrating as i drive when i hit about 3500rpm. i just had the timing belt done and soon after this has been happening. my engine mounts are fine to. the only i can think of is the counter balance shaft. cause i saw this"In those engines all the timing marks can line up and it will still be out! Yes,
believe it - it happened to me in my Galant. The counter-balance shaft
turns twice for every rotation of the crank pulley, so it can be 180 deg
out of time. The vibration in mine happened at exactly 3000 rpm." im guessing this could be my problem, but im on here to get anyones opinion. thanks
 
The oil pump sprocket is attached to the rear balance shaft, and the balance shaft sprocket is attached to the front one obviously. Yes, they are almost certainly out of phase, which makes the car run like a bag of s$%^.

The oil pump sprocket is what you want.
With the belt off turn the oil pump sprocket until the mark lines up with the case on the sprocket.

Rotate the oil pump sprocket clockwise a few degrees and let it go.

If the mark on the sprocket falls away from the mark on the case then it is 180 out.
Rotate the sprocket 180 degrees and test again.

The goal is when you rotate and release the oil pump sprocket it should fall towards the mark on the front case and not away from the mark.
 
I think I may have misunterstood. Are you talking about it hitting the frame in the stock location or after it was relocated? If it hits the frame stock location something is seriously wrong. If you were talking about it hitting after it was relocated then yes you are correct. Misunderstood your post.

If the alternator is RELOCATED TO THE REAR, make sure your not hitting frame.

That should help spell out where I'm talking about the alternator being when hitting frame
 
^Lol. Well, another reason to do the balance shaft eliminator kit. Never have to worry about being out of phase. (Though you will have some new found resonance around 3k.)
