So my 91 gsx just started doing this last week. Every morning I warm my car for about 20 minutes. get in it pull out of my apt complex. On the first and first only acceleration up to speed(35mph) It starts to shake. I can lift the throttle and it stops get back on the throttle then it comes back. once I hit 30 its gone. then it wont do it again for the rest of the day. seriously only onec in the morning. I dont get it

That is quite odd. So the car is warmed up to operating temperature before you drive. How much throttle are you giving it? Does it do it when the car is 100% cold and not drivi g it for a few hours?

it has all new fluid. Car is warmed up. but it only does it once. Once I accelerate past 30 its gone. If i immediatley stop and try again it will not do it. Just the first regular no heavy throttle accel and it does it. I didnt take a lunch yesterday so at the end of my shift it did it leaving the shop. the motor can run for an hour and it will still do this. Its not at the engine. Runs great. no noises from the engine. I dont feel the vibration in the steering wheels or the brakes when it does this. If I just lift off the throttle at 20 in mid vibration it stops but once back on throttle it continues till past 30 and then gone for the rest of the day. It has good cvs up front.

How good are your tires. Sounds like a slipped belt that develops after sitting overnight especially in the colder weather.

That could be a possibility. my tires are getting down there. But the tires look fine as far as a slipped belt. its just so consistant every morning. And it only does it then. I can drive it smooth or hard for the rest of my day and I just cant feel it again. I drive the car 6 times a day and I only feel it pulling out of my complex for the first 100 feet or so then it just clears up and thats all I get for diagnoistic time for it.

Whatever it is it resets itself or falls back into place? I mean its so freaking obvious that its god a bad vibration but only when its extremely cold(sitting all night long) and within seconds it just clears up and goes away and I cannot for the life of me repeat it. But every single morning I pull out of mt apt. put it in first and half a block later vibration, switch gears...still vibrates...put it in 3rd still vibrates and about the time I am getting to the speed limit(35mph) it just clears right up. i have tried to keep my foot on the throttle and see if it keeps vibrating but it just gets all clean and smooth. this is driving me crazy for 2 reasons. Me being a mechanic cannot figure it out and I am driving from my town to denver and back soon and its just mountain passes between me and denver...Not a good spot to be stuck at.

Oh, I wanted to also add( and this may and hopefully be the same problem) Over the summer if next to a median i could hear a high pitched rotating noise. All brakes have been done...still was there. It didnt move with rpm but rather get higher pitched at faster speeds and it would stopped after I slowed to 5 or lower. Well...I cant hear that noise anymore. Wheel bearings are good. I thought maybe carrier bearing for my ds. ??????????Car is pissing me off. Its only my car that i cant figure this kinda stuff out on. customers cars in and out repairs. Why is it mine that I cant figure out

I think its one of my carrier bearings. Cooling down over night and seizing and my first pull down the road is spining the bearing and the rubber together and the bearing frees up and gets hot. Its not untill it cools over night that it seizes back up again. Going on a lift tonight to find out. ! piece driveshaft?

I found my problem finally guys!! So whoever the last person who replaced the drivers front cv axle decided he was to weak to get the cv to snap onto the intermediate shaft and left the snap ring out. Now i never noticed a problem until recently When its been getting really cold lately. The cv boots would get so cold they would shrink up over night. By shrinking and not having my cv snapped into place like it supposed to be it was pulling the cv far away from where its supposed to be on the input of my intermediate shaft. When I would drive up my road in the morning the cv would vibrate because it wasnt fully on the shaft. One the boots and inner cv would warm up due to friction the cv would walk back into place and not show me the signs of a problem till it sat over night. I had another intermediate shaft and bearing in great shape I ordered a new cv and trans seals for my short shaft and will be installing them in the morning. This should be it as i pulled the cv off and its hard to turn at any angle. iu have never seen this before with a cv. A bad one that has gotten way to tight internally to the point where it will vibrate. the cause is the slapping back and forth of the cv axle.

It felt like drivetrain for sure!! The whole car would shake. And I could feel it in the floor boards. But It would only do it when it had sat for more than 8 hours in the cold. before it got worse it would only do it for about 300 feet then smooth out and go away until the cv boots would shrink back up while sitting. but in the end it would just take a good bump on the road to get it to vibrate again. have had no problems like that since I replaced my intermediate shaft, bearing, and cv.
