I just put a rebuilt long block in the car .I've got 25 miles on it , seems to run good but it vibrates at idle . The steering wheel shakes . I see people saying this could be motor mounts .My mount in the front of the car that is hooked to the tranny is a piece of welded up angle iron . This was done when I bought the car . I assumed they were having some sort of a problem with motor mounts breaking or something . Also this new mtr has no balance shafts . Previos mtr did not shake the steering wheel . The same angle iron was being used and I found the balance shaft belt broken . Any ideas ? Thanks
 
it is a combination of both, the motor mount helps absorb vibration and the BS Will help keeping every thing in sync. even motor mount inserts will add a bunch of vibration.

as for the motor is it OEM parts or Forged Part's? was it fully balanced? are you using a harmonic dampener?
 
Is the vibration still there at higher rpms? I do know that if balance shafts(bs) are removed you will have more vibration at idle and i believe less at higher rpms. Id check all 4 mounts.. front back,and sides. If you can move the motor by hand easily then its definately your mounts. If not, its proabably because of the bs delete. Both bs's were removed?
