coming home from work, i noticed that every time i reached about 3500rpm and up a slight vibration is felt, not bad but i can feel it on the foot pedals, and steering wheel, when i got home i opened the hood and could hear a small but solid tap at the back of the engine where it meets with the tranny, Today my clutch pedal would stick to the floor when i would press down to shift, i've researched and asked many of my fellow mechanics and everyone seems to point me towards Crank walk? Can someone please point me in the right direction

i have a
97 4G63T GSX, 5 speed tranny

more info would help. Crankwalk wont give you vibration on your steering wheel also the clutch pedal sticking to the floor has nothing to do with the engine or vibration if is staying on the floor check your master cylinder if it has fluid or if is leaking, also checfk your slave cyl. too for leaks

If there is an adequate amount of fluid in the clutch system bleed it, and check the clutch fork, and slave cylinder. Than if all is good take a left hand turn i believe and press the clutch in, if it does not come out you most likely have the infamous case of crank walk.

Also check for for bent wheels, and maybe have them rebalanced. Then see if that helps, so you can tackle that noise.

Hey guys thanks alot for the quick responses, I really appricaiate your help.

well I just found a complete 6 bolt with 75000 on it i think i'm just going to replace my 7 bolt and and continue my upgrade journey.

Again Thanks to everyone for the help

It's not crankwalk. Vibration is not a symptom of crankwalk. It is a symptom of a balance shaft being out-of-time (and, 3500rpm is where that is felt), but that doesn't usually come on without drastic and catastrophic side effects.

Rather than being out of time (assuming an intact balance belt), would a broken balance shaft belt exhibit this symptom? A broken belt would allow only one balance shaft to spin, thus the slight vibration at 3.5k rpm.

To the OP- does the vibration go away once the engine revs past 3.5k?
