Hello tuners, its me again,i have a few questions about my current setup. The reason i posted a new thread was my current combo of parts are very unique so i need specific answers.I'd like to start out with my combo for viewers to better understand my questions.I have a 1990 eagle talon TSI AWD with a 6 bolt bottom end (stock) with a 2g head and intake manifold. My cams are from a 1g head and also my TB is a 90.I have done all the free mods along with new fluids, all new maintenance, and a MBC compression test showing 150 on all 4 cylinders and no boost leaks.Currently running 14 psi. My questions are simple and straight.
1.)Will this combo be suitable to continue modding?
2.)What would be the next step in modding this type of combo?
3.)I plan on keeping the stock 14b for awhile till i save more money, what supporting mods work well with this turbo?
4.)What is a good boost range for my setup?

It sounds good stock set up, and fuel, i would keep the boost around 10 or stock boost i never ran stock boost, its a stock car still, upgrade path, the tech section is good for your upgrade path, so many variables and your goals, budget. Check the upgrade path on here its a great tool. Since your car is unmolested.

I would get an exhaust and boost gauge first if you don't already, and then you can do like I did and get everything set up to push the 14b and be ready for a bigger turbo. Get a wideband, ECMLink, and a fuel setup. You can then turn the boost up to around 18-20 and have some fun.

So you have a 2g head/intake with a 1g 90 TB? You realize the TB openings are different for both right?

Next step is getting setup for tuning and logging. You need something like Jackal or pocketlogger/SAFC to tune and log with. I would suggest Jackal because its a combined flash tuning/logging setup that writes and logs the ecu in real time. Also cheaper in the log run.

After that, you will want an exhaust, intake, intercooler piping or FMIC. Then injectors, fuel pump and boost controller.

Thank you for the quick responses.I already have a boost gauge.I have the 90 TB on the 2g intake now but i also have stored away a 91-94 TB i plan on installing soon.So what your saying is 14 psi isn't safe to run currently with my setup?

I dont think you understand, a 90 TB is a 63mm opening, and a 2g is a 57mm throat at the intake. So you are 5mm off at the intake. Thats bad. You need a 2g TB, which is impossible basically on a 90, or port the opening on the 2g. Or what little you can.

And no, 14psi isnt safe. Stock is safe.

14 psi on a 1g is safe with a boost gauge. The stock pump/injectors will handle about 15-16 psi before you hit fuel cut.

Good deal ty guys i'll be looking for a logger and and dsm link ###### in my price rang,as for the tb situation what do u think my options are as far as 1g tb working with a 2g intake?just port my tb side of that 2g intake to match my 1g tb?

I would just get dsmlink, no need for a logger, i had one ok or a while then i got link. You can get lite and always upgrade to full later. For the tb's i always used my 1g since i have a 1g.

Just port your intake manifold to match the throttle body.
