Today I wanted to set my base timing correctly. And after I hooked up the timing light and also grounded the plug behind the battery I went searching for the triggerpoint at the crank. I had the triggerpoint marked with paint alreayd so it was more easy to find.
Then the follwing happens:
I found the triggerpoint/mark however the triggerpoint was not standing still but is continously moving in a anticlockwise direction, so e.g first at 10 btdc then 15 btdc then 20 btdc and so on still it has gone the full 360 degrees and it goes on and on. Very strange I have never seen this on any car. I checked my timing light on an evo 4 and this triggerpoint was nice and steady. I also tried an higher idle (1500 rpm) but till the triggerpoint was moving.
Is there anyone who knows what is going on? Car is running good and the Timing on the datalogger is steady. I tried the timinglight with the logger connected and also disconnected but no difference.
