Well, I have had the motor in this talon for a while after the rebuild but havent had time to drive it..

At first start up my idle AFR was around 17.0 and that was very lean, So fixed an exhaust leak before the WB02. After that, I was idling at 14.7..Then slowly over the course of 15 miles I threw a Fuel Trim Bank 1 code, P0170 to be exact.

I logged 9 frames while idling with my logger just to see if you guys can tell me why my idle sits at 13.4 afr, and my cruise afr sits at 12.4. It's running super rich and gas is just being dumped.

Info on the car:

Base timing set to 5*, 8* when idling normally.
Wally 190 fuel pump, (not rewired)
TPS/Biss were adjusted to spec, has great idle @ 850rpms
2G MAF stock, looks brand new
Brand new coolant temp sensor and switch
Boost leak Tested to 20psi, held great with no leaks.
BOV is recirculated

I was told it may be FPR over-run, bad front 02 (is it cycling right?), bad/ hung up injector, or MAF.

Edit: When i start it up and warm it up after it goes in to closed loop, my idle will sit at 14.9 for 10-12 seconds and slowly climb its way down to 13.4, when cruising no matter what I am seeing 12.4 ish which I know is way to rich especially when im doing like 1/8th throttle.

Not the timing, but the front o2 sensor is part of what dictates your fuel trims in closed loop.

Ok Ill get a real log with Evoscan, I was searching online and people say its a great logging software so I might as well buy it. This snap-on scanner came with a OBD2 to usb plug and its an Openport.

I have a 1997 Eagle talon tsi awd. It has a 6-bolt/ 2g head. I followed oil port mods by BogusSvo. Ill be sure to fill that out when i have time.

Meanwhile, Im waiting to go back to my uncles this weekend.

Also at 3000rpms my timing* was showing 30* advanced just free revving..How is that possible? I checked my base timing again (set to 5* btdc with the Blacktop 1G CAS, settles at 8* normal idle) and my timing belt timing is still spot on (checked last night)..
Sigh.

2g timing maps are more conservative, but this is a base timing map for a 1g. I know its not exactly the same, mine is setup for speed density. At 3000k rpm, at stand still, my car is aiming for 38-39* of timing. Completely normal. :thumb:

Awesome, thats a huge weight off my mind thanks. I didnt want these first 30-40 miles putting detrimental effects on my motor.. Before I drive anymore I need to figure this rich thing out so im not washing the walls down with fuel.

So that graph goes with Throttle position and rpm as a basis, or load/rpm.

Also can anybody let me know if everythin else is showing accurate readings? Like my maf, tps at idle, and also why my fuel 1-2 went open randomly..

Thanks

That's with speed density correct? I may look into that as I have a IAT sensor and 5-bar map from a friend who parted his mustang.

Yeah I was using ds-map, but thats not available with 2g's . I think your options are ecmlink, or an evo8 ecu like I plan on doing, they are very versatile from what I've seen so far.

I like functionality mainly, Ive been reading up on Ceddy's Mod and am thinking about grabbing a 98/99 ecu it has SD.

I can't say anything about what progress we've made with the 2g flashables, but I am a firm believer SD. once you get it setup you won't settle for less. The throttle response is just so damn crisp,... the only down side was that when I removed my maf, the turbo was much louder;), I got pulled over for sounding like a f-16 taking off.ROFLROFL

:) Im in ohio man, more than Half the people around here dont have a close to smog exhaust system..Ill do SD though for sure..
