Very loud clunking, and violent shaking

the other day i was driving home. I got to a stop light and once i started rolling, i heard somewhat of a snapping sound, and about 15 feet later, my car started shaking violently. I know my Cv boots are tore, and it was probably what caused it. It will move for like 2 feet, then it will buck like im slamming on the brakes? any idea what this could be?

Also when i was having it towed, it was on the winch. It would go for about 3-4 feet, and then clunk and we had to push it back once, but it wouldnt go back. So i put it in reverse and it moved back fine?

Just hoping its not a horrible 2K dollar problem

if your cv boots are torn then all of the lubricating grease probabaly came out and that is most likely your problem.

First thing's first. Check your CV shafts. Make sure they are still connected to the tranny and make sure the joints are opperational. If the axles appear to be functioning, then you can probably kiss your differential goodbye. The symptums you are describing sound like when my differential blew up. It jerks because it's missing a tooth and sooner or later, it will be missing all it's teeth. If that is the case, then it's the perfect time for a Shep Tranny and an LSD. Good luck to you.
