When im driving slowly and turning the drivetrain feels jumpy, and the axles are clunking really loud. When its clunking i feel jolting in the car. When I am stoped and trying to move while turning I hear one tire bark on the pavement. This is after I already put good axles in, and took the transmission apart and changed the front diff, and see if there was anything wrong with the center diff, but i didnt take it apart, maybe i should have. I think either my center diff is bad or my transmission gear ratio is off. Im not sure. I have already launched the car a few times, slipped the clutch and spun the tires and got it a little sideways. The car is absolutely fine when im driving straight. I also swaped in a 4 bolt rear end.

Which tire? Front, back, left right?
And was the viscous coupling discolored?
I am hoping you mean on ice and snow and not on pavement.

Since it only does it when your turning, it sounds like a diff is busted. what is the ratio of the front diff and the 4 bolt rear you threw in? Or do you know if one of the diffs was welded?

it does it on pavement, when i drove spinning in the snow, there was no clunking when i dont have traction. There was no discoloration, Which diff, the rear diff? All of the fluids were changed just to add. I can get the car on the lift and inspect what its like with the rear end. Its a 4 bolt rear end from a 92. My transmission appears to be from a 90, but it works fine, i swapped a shifter bracket, no issues shiffting. the back tires bark

It sounds like part of our drivetrain is binding. Probably need to find out which one. Have some one stand in a parking lot and do a figure eight, They could tell you which side and where it was coming from.

Reason I ask for location, is because It can tell us where the problem is. When you turn, is it the inside wheel? If so, I think your rear differential is likely welded. Great for take off, but will cause problems on pavement. Also, when you rebuilt the transmission, you used new components, didn't you? Some of the parts need to be preloaded properly, and other parts cannot be reused.

Only reason I asked about BOTH diffs is all the parts need to come from compatible years.

i didnt rebuild the trans just took it apart replaced the front diff and kept the same gear, the problem existed before i took the trans apart. the noise is from the passenger axle

The intermediate shafts deal with the transfer case fitting on the transmission, it will either fit or it wont, and it fits. The problem was my center diff, it was warped and destroyed.
