Ok today I installed my aem wideband, install was very easy and didnt take long. Then when I started it after the o2 warmed up I'm running anywhere from 17 to off the charts lean. I've got it installed in the stock location on the o2 housing with it set to p4 to simulate the nbo2, and wired into the ecu. For the tuning all I have is a EPROM chip a member on here tuned for me. Didn't get to do any pulls or anything because of a flat, but is it safe to be that lean on idle I can tell it was running a little rich under boost before I had the wb because I would get a little puff of black smoke when I got on it. The factory boost gauge is now a knock gauge according to the guy that tunned the chip and I haven't had any knock according to that. It also is throwing a check engine light since I installed the wb, I'm hoping that is because of the o2 heater malfunction code I've read about, but I won't know till tomorrow when I can read the code. So any input would be appreciated before I pull the chip for a reburn for the new things I've added and I want to throw in my evo injectors.

Pull the codes let us know whats going on. The problem with running used chips is you really never know what the last guy bought no matter what he told you.

Is this "chip" DSMlink? If it is you hit the jackpot if you have the cable.

Wouldn't that be nice LOL, but no it is just a "stage 3" chip that the guy burnt a tune to for my setup. I'm pretty sure it's just a mild tune to be safe. Ive just changed my setup a good bit since I was pretty much stock when I got him to burn the chip tuned on 16psi, and now that i have pretty much the rest of my supporting mods I'm gonna have him reburn the chip for my new evo injectors and bump the boost up to around 22psi I think. I just want to make sure everything is right with this tune so I can give him some feedback for the new tune, and I'm also trying to go through and make sure all my sensors are set right and my timing is 5*, which is hard since I'm not running a timing cover so I'm still trying to find someone to loan me an adjustable timing light so I can go by the cams.

I know this question doesn't really fall into the thread but is the apexi turbo timers A/F reliable like a wideband? I'm buying me a WB soon but thought i should ask....what should the A/F be during idle?

may i ask why you arent running it with a lower timing cover?

Main reason is because I bought the car without one on it, second reason is when I finished the motor I didn't want to wait and order one plus I've never ran a timing cover, I know it's not the smartest nor the safest.

No they are just as useless as the autometer narrowband gauges. I've got the same one and even with it wired to the wideband o2 it still doesn't read right.

You will need to figure out how to activate the base timing terminal to set your base timing. I cant remember how to do that in 2G.

What are your AFRs at cruise and WOT, it should be ~14.7 and ~11.5, respectively.

Mine sits are 14.7-15.5

Yea I know on my 95 I have to ground the little brown connector on the firewall to enter "timing mode" or what ever it's called LOL. I'll get back to you with the afr when I drive it later today or tomorrow. Like I said it's not a dd so I'll have to drive out to the shop and pick it up. Free parking storage ftw LOL.
