Very dumb question ; Brembo Big Brake kit

Im surfing for a Brembo Big Brake kit for my car

Like this one ; 95-99 Mitsubishi Eclipse Front Gran Turismo Drilled Brake Kit Octane Motorsports


Wherever i look the kit includes only the front brakes , why is this? and front calipers

Isnt half the point getting the rear brakes and rear calipers as well?

( would like to point out that there are some language barriers for me in this, i dont know what a "piston" is for example, i see you get 4 of those with the kit )

"Big" brakes on the rear aren't really a necessity since most of the stopping power is in the front. Most people I see running these are in the front,and regular in the back. By pistons they mean the piston cup on the caliper,2 pistons per side.

ok thank you, but will it not look silly with these massive bling bling brakes at the front and not in the rear =P

could atleast buy another pair of calippers to put in the back ...

i need to change basicly all my brakes anyway....good options for the rear ?

Also make sure your wheel size can accommodate the larger rotors before you spend alot of money on them.

Take the money you were going to drop on those horribly overpriced Brembo's, and look into the TCE packages. OR, buy a full 4 wheel used setup from an EVO or STi and rebuild them. $2500 for a front brake kit is ridonkulous.

A piston is a steel or stainless steel cylinder used to take the hydraulic pressure of the brake fluid and physically direct it towards the brake pads. 4 pistons means 2 pistons per brake pad, both sets squeezing directly across each other thru the brake rotor. More pistons up to a point allows more even pad wear, as well as being able to place the pistons at the furthest edge of the brake rotor for more clamping force.

The reason no rear brake kits are typically used is that the stock brake proportioning valve wouldn't be able to cope with the increased rear bias, and you'd actually remove braking force from the front. Not what you want to do. Also, you'd need a stickier/wider tire to really take advantage of this.

thats your tire size, so you have 19 inch rims, but it also matters about the offset of the rims

You should be fine if the tires are a performance tire.

my tires are from an american company called Sunny, Sunny Performance Tires

They came with the car ( brand new tires ) , never heard of the brand before , dont think its very common in Norway or Europe for that matter

You guys have any experience with them?
