I perdonally know someone running cower cams w/ more lift than the 272s that runs 8500RPM on the stock 2G valvetrain and no float.

I also know someone with a GVR4 with 160K running almost 8.5K RPMs on the origional head.

I'd say for the Average Daily Driver DSM with decent HP at least the 1&2 Syncro's should be replaced 1 a year as regular maintance. (well for those that like to abuse there cars daily at least)


I see you already bought them - which I think was the right thing to do if you had the money to do it. I know with my new turbo coming in I'm going to be looking for a set of Ferrera's here shortly so that I can raise the Rev limit to 8500.

I know stock can do 8500 but IMO it's pushing the limits, and it's just better to have upgraded internal to be on the safe side. And $250 isn't a lot of money when comparied ot installing a new set of Pistons, and what ever else might break.

Oh ya for those interested I saw that QPR inc here in Minnesota is offering them for $250+shipping.

Geez, what do you do to your tranny? I don't make tons of power (only about 400hp at the crank), but mine's primarily a racecar... Track, rally, autox, dragstrip, etc. It does *not* lead an easy life, but the synchro's are still fine with 87,000 miles on the original unopened tranny!
