So yesterday i took off the plastic piece on my valve cover and I noticed oil all over along with a crack in the right corner what does this mean?

Do you see any cracks or anything on the valve cover? If not then I'm not sure. I know that's where oil puddles up if I spill some when I'm putting oil in the GST. It slips right underneath the spark plug cover and and when I take it off to clean it up, there the oil sits. -shrugs- Just a guess. Maybe a new oil cap perhaps?

What chitown said...you overtightened a bolt or two You should also grab a set of allen head valve cover bolts. Then you'll never overtighten them again.

When you change the valve cover make sure to get another valve cover gasket and also apply some RTV to the gasket just a helpful tip.

Basically tighten till snug but not too snug like just as it gets tight and like a quarter turn more. You just want to compress the gasket and that's about it.

What I use to tighten valve cover bolts, is my craftsman socket screwdriver, and use the 1/4 adapter to put a socket on it and snug it that way. You can easily over torque the valve cover with even a 1/4 ratchet.

Yeah go with the small 1/4th ratchet. Thats what I used when the previous owner changed the gasket and over tightened the inside bolts and it cracked.

Also to make sure it goes on evenly work your way from the inside bolts (spark plug holes) first and then work your way to the outer edge ones tightening them one by one until they are snug. You don't want to torque one screw to spec at a time. Do it slowly, take your time and it wont crack or leak.

That crack Is a problem.I see you with two options,,Get new valve cover, or jb weld that beotch..

But your going to have to power wash it first to get all the oil off..That's the only way the jb weld will stick..

I got the same problem on mine. oil pools up below the spark plugs. Another Guy told me that it could be my headgasket blown??? I Really dont think that though. Maybe he ment valve cover gasket. I have no visable cracks on mine, I just need to periodicly soak up the oil in there, and pour in a Little bit more. I changed the oil cap ring and its still pooling so I know it is not from that. Would there be anyother reason to why oil would leak through there. and could I use a n/t valve cover on my turbo car or are they diffrent?

They are the same if you are referring to the na 4g63.

I had the same problem, but mine was because the bolts loosened up a bit. I was really careful and tightened them back up
