Valve work done, bad idle or dies after install

For starters, i have a 93 6-bolt in a 2G. Just got car running after machine shop installed new valves and timed everything. Car turns over and everything works. However, it idles at 1000 and will either shoot between 2000 or fall flat on its face in drive way.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Did the machine shop time it? check and make sure the timing marks are lined up and also for your idle could be your crank position sensor advance or retard it, that should help out.

You can't advance or retard a crank position sensor. And if its a 6 bolt it does not have a cps. I would assume you meant the Cam Position Sensor.

If the idle is surging up and down check for vacuum or boost leaks first. Make sure your connector to the MAF is not cracked or broken. Also look into the biss screw, the iac, and throttle body gasket.

Thanks guys, i just had it towed to another shop. My power steering pump went out and that solved the noise but i worked on it all night and tried to start it this morning and got nothing. now its cranking but no fire up.

Re-did all my vaccum hoses last night, no leaks anywhere.

Not starting could be multiple things... Start by making sure your getting spark and fuel. Also, make sure your check engine light turns on then off when the key is in the accessory position.
