Valve Stem Compressor

Has anyone tried using this valve spring compressor to replace valve stem seals in a 1g engine.

In the absence of the proper tool linked above, I've also had luck using a large C-Clamp and a customized section of plumbing pipe to make the opening necessary to access the retainer clips. There is an increased risk of causing damage to the head surface, but I'm pretty careful, personally. Indeed you would not be able to use that first compressor you asked about as it's designed for a different type of head/valvetrain geometry.

Valve stems are solid steel. They're a bi*** to compress.
