valve seal install guide help

ok ive done this a few times but now cant remember for the life of me on how to install the valve seals

head is out fully stripped down full rebuild

my question is do i put on an grease when installing them or do i install them dry? and just a small socket and lightly tap them in right?

Dry, and they can just push on, but tap LIGHTLY with a 10 or 11mm 1/4" drive socket.

yeha i ended up finding out how to god damn brain fart going on right now...

If you put them on dry , you stand a chance of ripping the inner seal lip that rides on the valve stem.
Just a dot of oil is all you need.

yeha i put a bit of oil on each one before i installed them

Ive done mine and friends the same way, socket and a bit of oil on the inner seal, but u know there's a tool out there that steps them at the perfect height on the guides..dont know exactly where to get it, but it exists..didnt really think that a few mm's would make a difference on them. the seal rides on the valve, but the valve doesnt change in diameter or size at all, so why make a tool instead of just bottoming them out on the guides???..thats my .02, none of my seals or my buddies seals have ever leaked yet, ok im out!

the tool is made so you do not cut the inside of the seal from the metal clad outside and let the rubber part of the seal go for a ride on the valve stem..
