Okay I was replacing my Valve Cover because the pcv valve was broken in it and I had another VC lying around. So when I got to getting it on I noticed the holes for the bolts to bolt it down is much higher then my other one. The bolts won't even reach the head to tighten it down.

What valve cover is this and what bolts would I need to use for this because I'm stumped right now.

Black VC is the one I'm putting on and the orange one is the one I'm taking off.

Idk i would go the the hardware store and pick up some longer ones that fit, for your set up. That seems like the only logical thing to do.

Okay I will do that right now, once I figure out what size bolts I need for everything.

you got a hyundai vc i believe. they need longer studs to be used.

Damn hyundai! Would you know exact bolt sizes or direct me somewhere for info on a hyundai valve cover?

Get longer 6x 1.00 mm bolts probably in the 35 range. Inside is 30mm maybe. Because with studs the cover will probably get stuck by the cam gear area when you remove it.

Just go to the hardware store and get the allen key bolts in the right size. Best way to go by far.

I have the same vc and I just used a tsi talon felpro vc gasket and the bolts I took off with the valve cover. I love it, looks clean.

You can use the same gasket.

You do need longer bolts. You can get for like 10$ at a hardware store or most auto parts stores. Its not the end of the world. I have spent at least 50-60$ in stainless steel hardware since I got my car. They look nicer, and have better heads on them, and aren't greasy and shit.

Buying SS hardware is a slippery slope. First, you get it to replace the valve cover bolts. Then you get them for the radiator brackets. Then for the brackets on the firewall. Next thing you know, you make a $100 trip to the store and walk out with enough bolts to replace every visible bolt in the engine bay. LOL

They look so much better than the rusted factory stuff.

I personally prefer the button capped allen key'd bolts when I am replacing them. I think not only do they look much cleaner, but they are so much easier to put in and take out later. But do make sure you have a good supple of washers too. I personally go to fastenal and buy my body bolts in packs of 100 for like 10 bux. Then I use my tap n die set if for some reason the bolts I buy are to long, I can simply cut them down to the desired length and retap the threads to make sure they are clean. I also retap the holes they are going into to make sure there is no debris in there that could potentially mess up the threads either. Especially on an aluminum part.
