So recently my alarm led stays illuminated and I just found out today that the alarm is stuck in "valet mode" I was wondering if there was any way to take the alarm off that mode so it works again.

I use a Clifford alarm for my car as well...

One nice thing (depending on how you look at it) is that a Clifford alarm has a battery back-up in it so it will remember the "state" it was in before power was disconnected. The reason behind this is for "theft deterrent". Someone decides to steal your car and they cut the power for some time, then reconnect power, the alarm is still in the "armed" state (or whatever state you have it in), that's why you have an alarm.

It works well....my car was down for a year for a series of upgrades and I put it in valet mode when I started. The power was un-hooked for a year. When I reconnected the battery, it was still in valet mode.

You will either need the "key fob" to get it out of valet, or the only other option is if it was put into valet with the valet switch which is a momentary contact on one side and a hold contact on the other with the center being nothing. Using this switch in a series of momentary-hold-momentary-etc you can actually code the valet switch as opposed to just an on-off switch that old style alarms had.

see the weird thing is that I didn't mean to put the alarm into valet mode. I was changing my brake pads over the weekend and somehow the lights in the car turned on (all of them) and then turned off but the car stayed in valet mode. It's been like..a week with the car in valet mode and it's kind of pissing me off because of that gleaming LED light, I don't want to take it out either because I think if people don't see an alarm that's armed..it gives them more of a reason to break into it. So, how do I take it off valet mode with a "key fob?"

OK, I just got home and looked at the manual...

Mine is the IQ-700 G3 series (several years old). The "fob" has 5 buttons total. 4 on the face and 1 on the side (shift).

To enter/exit valet mode you hit shift (side button) twice, then button 1. Hope it works for you.

So my fob has 3 buttons on the face and that's about it. I finally got it off valet mode. so I have one button for arm/disarm and one for trunk release and an asterisk. I tried other numerous combos until I got one down. I had to hold down the trunk release with the asterisk and wait for like a second or two and valet mode was turned off. sweeeeet. thanks guys

For future reference you if you know where your valet button is (the black push button for programing)... you turn the ignition on (with out starting the car) then immediately turn it back off (all the way off, just pull the key out) and put the valet button within 5 seconds. that'll turn it right off... or right back on if it was off before.
