ok so i have a 95 talon tsi awd....i just swaped the motor everthing was straigh forward but the throttle body vacuum lines are crazy they dont look anything like the ones from my other engine...they are hooked up differently.....

can i just take them off
which should i leave
should i plug the holes..."p""e" etc.....how?:dsm:

has any one dont this to their 2g.....does it run better

I also just bought a DSM. A 95 talon tsi awd, after inspecting my engine after i purchased the car, i notice my vacuum setup was weird. There is actually JB weld plugging sum of the holes, vacuum's running to other vacuums. My brothers 97 talon vacuums look nothing similar and his is entirely stock. This sounds slightly ridiculous to me.
 
When I rebuilt my engine for the second time in 6 months...(spun rod bearing) I noticed that some of the vacuum lines in my ar were all out of wack...so It added another 3 hours worht of work on top of what else I was doing that day. I sat down with a diagram of the lines and basically re did the entire set-up.

The engine had already been started so I was actually able to see a difference in the changes I made. Major difference in the way the car ran. Sounded much healthier! Engine even responded slightly better to different things. Now in the upgrade paths I think some of them can be plugged or blocked.... IMO, if yours is messed up or you think its messed up, fix it now! Get yourself a vacuum diagram and work from there. I used the one that came in my Haynes manual! If you don't have a Chilton Or some kind of maintainence book Its VERY highly recommeded!
 
To the OP, I'm a little unclear, did you swap a 6-bolt into the 95?

If that is what you did. then you should cap off the one that goes off on an angle (A2 I think) run the vacuum line that was going to A to A1 (A2 if the one on the angle is A1), run the line that was going to P to P on the 1G throttle body and then block off E on the new throttle body and tee the line that was on E into the line on port P.
 
The three straight vacuum fittings are marked the same as the 2G fittings. The fourth angled one will be unused, cap it off.

If you are still running with your EGR, the following will be necessary for proper EGR
It's simple, cap off the E line as well as the angled line (marked A1 or something). Then with a T, split the P line to go to where P and E used to go.

In effect drive the E line, (EGR) with the source from P.

The problem is that the 1G EGR and the 2G EGR are sourced differently inside the throttle body. The 2G EGR has vacuum at idle but the 1G does not.

The road race article doesn't cover all 2G throttle bodies though because the 99 for sure don't have a P port and the 98's may not either. The smog systems are a bit different on them.

When I put a 1G on my 99 only two vacuum lines run to the stock throttle body. I put the one that ran to A originally on A1 on the 1G TB and the one that ran to E on the 2G on P on the 1G and I capped off A2 and E on the new throttle body.
