I currently have some fitment issues with my downpipe. (rubs either the oil pan or the T-case and the straight pipe flange sits about 2 centimeters away from the driveshaft) Also, I want to use the EVO3 O2 housing I got a long time ago. So I was thinking a good solution would be to buy the RRE DP "EVO3 O2" exaust because its angled for that O2 housing and starts at 2.5 inch and flares out to 3-inch downstream.

If I did this, I would be able to use the flange on my straight pipe because its some idiotic 3-bolt type. So, I would be cutting the RRE DP and the straight pipe and either doing a slip-fit type with band clamps or going a little fancier and welding the circular flanges on for a V-band setup. I think either one will solve my clearance issues.

Which is better?

Vband for sure, and you can get the flanges and clamp in a kit for as low as 14- $16.00 on EBAY, though I cannot attest to the quality of "cheap" vband kits. Slip fit exhaust will leak a bit, and vband makes it so much nicer and easier to remove or install the exhaust parts, IMO:thumb:

I guess the only thing is that you need to cut the flange off more cleanly if your going to weld new circle flanges on there. Shouldn't be a deal breaker, though.

Also, I just noticed the 3-inch DP "EVO O2" LONG on RRE's website. I guess if that measured up close to my existing DP and race pipe I'll just go with that. Then I'll just have a 2-piece quick connect exhaust.

Anyone run RRE DP (EVO3 O2 or otherwise) right now?
