My disc is trash now (street disc), my question is can I run an oem disc with the 2600lb pressure plate? I searched through the forums and found team rip's advice, but I didn't know if that was true with a .612 stepped flywheel. My questions are, will the stock disc work, will it grap just as hard, what kind of life can I expect with the disc, and any tips/comments from you that run the stock disc! Thanks guys~Brandon.

Anybody? The act street disc is only a full face disc, which all oem discs come standard with so I don't know why it would be different. Plus an oem disc comes with a 1 year warranty :), i just don't know if it will work with a .612 flywheel and if it can handle the loads of an act 2600. The cluch will rarely be slipped ( only during take off) so the disc wouldn't see serious friction, the 2600lb pressure plate will grab like a charm LOL. Thanks guys just let me know~Brandon.

Not ideal, but it will work.

I have heard the best disk (OEM) is for the 97+ cars.

Why not just buy a new disk from ACT, its about $120vs about 75 for stock.

I can't use a 97+disc I've got a 6 bolt motor in my 91. I wanted to see if an oem disc would work because an act disk is around $70 and they are both full face discs so I can't see why they would perform difference. Any brand preference for the oem disc guys? Thanks a lot~Brandon.

How come you didnt put the ACT disk in when you put the pp on? When something is right in front of you its alwasy good to do it right. You can buy a Street Disk off DSMHorsepower for 123$ i havent found it cheeper. I would recomend not using the OEM disk...IMO the oem clutch sucks all together...mine didnt hold when i turnd the boost up 3psi :thumbdown

You wont have any problems using a stock disc with a ACT pressure plate. I have been using a stock disc and act pp for quite some time. I havent had any problems.

edit- as long as you use new parts, dont mix a nasty glazed over disc with a new pp or vice/versa

OMG if your old pp has any hot spots or blueing AT ALL it will only wear out your disk prematurely. :laser:

Last time I checked... The clutch disc didn't bolt to anything. :thumb:

All turbo DSMs use the same spline count and diameter input shaft and same overall clutch diameter. Only difference is flywheel and pressure plate diameter for 1g and 2g, awd and fwd-t. Clutch disk is the same no matter number of bolts in a crank or drivetrain configuration, so again, 97+stock disk if thats how you wanna roll.

And as long as the bluing isnt to severe, rock that shit. Clean the glazing off with a roloc wheel or something and put it back together.
