been wondering if an Evo lower ball joint would press into 1st g LCA? if so, I think we can use a spindle off of a 3rd gen. this will give us an opportunity to use the longer ball joint kit available for EVOs. the kit comes with a longer lower ball joint and tie rod end. I'm not sure about this fit so don't go out and buy it.

No it wont fit. Evo's apart from the early ones use a straight connection with a bolt holding it in through the shaft.

Are you trying to re correct roll centers or bumpsteer? Or both?

there was discussion again about roll centers and bump steer. you are correct about using a 1st gen spindle. I suggested using a spindle from a 3g. it use the same design ball joint as the Evo.

I am not knowledgeable on the 3G system but as long as the steering arm is the same it might work ok.

keep in mind these off the shelf units rely on a preset drop to counteract and you WILL need a way to adjust the rear as you will inturn create a SLOWER rear responding suspension where as ideally you ALWAYS want the rear to be fast NOT slower then the front!

if you do want a much wider range and bumpsteer I do 1G kits now so could look into those as they will allow you to fine tune and you could keep the stock system as it is thus making the F/F balance more equal and just adjusting the bumpsteer to suit. just worth a mention and another option for you to consider without going through all the new development of different chassis knuckles etc

as you know Bobby I built my own roll centers with extended lower ball joints and made my own heim joint tie rod ends. I was thinking out of the box for a bolt on set up.

I don't always remember everyones setup I'm afraid. I wish I could but my brain cells are limited LOL the few I do have work really really hard hahahaha so sorry if I forgot that detail of yours.

I think no one has done this yet, could be a cool project to take on to say its been done finally

went to parts house today. it will not be a bolt on. the base of the lower ball joint is not the same. Just thinking out of the box.
