Im ready to replace my exhaust manifold, turbo, and o2 housing. im wondering if i need to use any rtv or anything on the gaskets, or will the gaskets be enough? thanks!

i have the downpipe to o2 housing gasket,
o2 housing to turbo,
turbo to exhaust manifold,
exhaust mani to head

no to RTV, the gaskets are enough, the RTV would just melt away and stink for awhile..

ok cause when i got my exhaust made, the exhaust shop installed the downpipe for me and he said he used some kind of sealent between the downpipe and o2 housing, along with the gasket.

as long as all of your flanges are flat and not worped then the gasket is all you need...there is no rtv that will hold up to 1300 degrees.

When I change out my exhaust manifold, I'm using Copper RTV for the o2 housing and turbo to manifold gasket. No other gasket, just the RTV. It's good stuff, search about it. As for the head to manifold gasket, don't use the RTV for that.

How would adding a high temp adhesive to a gasket be considered 2 gaskets? People do it on there head gaskets all the time on here (I did to) and I dont have leaking issues anywhere.

Ahh. I thought it was something like that RTV 'Make-a-gasket', where you just use that & don't need any other gasket at all.

what do you guys think about rtv on the turbo outlet to the intercooler pipe?
I use it there with no problems. You just have to let it dry for a while before you drive the car.
