I have a few threads going regarding different issues im having with my car, but here is a strange question i couldn't find anything related to it anywhere...

Info:
-I noticed is that this car has been played with and tinkered with a lot, head was swapped and timing done before.

-When we did the timing the first time we had the cam gears upside down, dowel pins at 6 o'clock and timing set to 11degrees, car ran like a dream! set to 5 degrees barely able to idle.

-when we redid everything properly with the cam gears at 12 o'clock and timing set to 5 degrees it its a no-start. we played with the CAS back and forth and it would never start or it would and die out shortly after.

Dont know if that helps but we are gonna set the cam gears upside down again and see what happens.

Things ive done so far:
-new spark plugs, gapped properly at .30
-new spark plug wires
-tested injectors, 390cc
-new fuel filter, 1 month old according to previous owner
-new power steering belt
-replaced intercooler (had major leak, helped a little)
-replaced TPS (used, helped a little more, not perfect tho)
-replaced CTS (used, made no difference in starting)
-removed the fuel line that goes to the rail (in front of the TPS), even hours after the car hasn't been running still had plenty of fuel in the line and rail so im assuming no fuel delivery or fuel pressure issues.
-tested alternator, seems fine. (removed the negative cables from the battery while the car was running, didn't shut off)
-full brand new timing belt kit.

Question: Is there something that can cause this, a different head or cam, maybe the last owner installed the whole cam gear and cam upside down..

Thanks in advanced!

Yes, all the basics have been covered and everything works.

Car use to run fine as well, last owner to set the timing also had the cam gears upside down, dowel pins set to 6 o'clock, when they did the timing and it was working fine.

There is no difference as far as valve train geometry if the dowels are at 6 or 12 o'clock. The cams spin at half the speed as the crank, so every other rotation of the crankshaft the dowels will alternate to 6 and 12. It will effect the balance shaft timing if you still have balance shafts, but it doesn't make the engine out of time, as long as the marks were lined up on the crank, and cam gears. It is not the ideal way to set it, but it works. Have you verified that you have compression? Also have you checked for codes? One last thing to look into is the coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing. If it is bad, or has a problem with the wires than the car will be very hard to start.

already checked for compression, was all good.
changed the coolant sensor too, had it working after i changed in a few months ago.
fixed all code issues already.

Finally got the car started, there was another belt behind the timing belt that was out (my dad says, i lost all hope for this car LOL.)

Car would build boost but misfire and would barely move, seems to be around/before 3000rpm but afters a little better. idles fine.

Then today the car cranks and cranks but never starts.

I was told it could be the CAS 180* off, that really confuses me, can someone explain that and how to readjust it?

Nothing was done since yesterday, so what can cause a random no start and misfire? only thing that makes sense is CAS or ECU, but the light comes on and turns off like it should and the boost gauge goes up half way.

I really don't wanna scrap this car after everything ive put into it but i just cant seem to figure out whats going on.

^ You sir, are awesome. I passed by that thread a few times but never checked it out, figured i didn't have a 2g so it wouldn't help me.

ill try it out when i get home later.

Ok so i adjusted it, still no good. still no start, opened the ECU to double check again, dont notice anyything out of place or burned, caps are good too.
