mounting small 16g upside down?

im custom making manifolds and i was wondering if i could mount my turbo upside down. iv seen it on some cars but i was wondering if i just kept the oil lines where they are now. and just flipped the turbo will anything happen?

You can, the turbo in that pic isn't a 16g. You will have to grind off the small dowel on turbine side that align the turbine housing to the center section, and grind the dowel on the compressor side so that you can rotate it also.

Any time you mount a turbo on a top-mount style manifold, you need to clock both housings to work properly. The CHRA must remain clocked with the oil feed at the top and the oil drain at the bottom.

It's also worth pointing out that there's zero benefit in top mounting a 16G.

ok well thanks for the quick responses and i guess ill just stick to the down side style and i have a 16g its not on yet.
