whenever these go out do they make any kind of noise or something, reason i am asking is because i have replaced everything except the front uppers and i am getting a little thump whenever i take off in 1sr gear
 
Does it do it on a hard shift, as well? Shake your driveshaft recently?
 
Well its a frt wheel drive but it just goes thump and then i dont hear it again until i come to a complete stop and take off again.
 
Hard to know for sure unless I hear it, but from what you described it could be a bad motor mount. Sounds like the engine is shifting a bit when it is torquing like on take-off or coming to a stop.

On my 01 tiburon I would hear a clunk when I would take off on first, or come to a moderate to hard stop. It turned out to be the transmission motor mount.
 
My vote is on a roll stop mount. (motor mount) It may be time for some energy suspension or prothane bushings. :)

Agreed, sounds like motor mounts.
The front mount comes out, for inspection, in 10minutes. Driver's side takes roughly the same maybe 15min? The rear most can be done in an hour+ or lightening..depends on your luck/hand size. I've yet to time the tranny mount.

it was the front roll stop. well the bolt that goes thru it is way way smaller than the actual diameter of the hole in the roll stop so i drilled the motor mount bracket to be the same diameter and I used a much thicker bolt to take up the slack and now its nice and tight.

You know, it really is interesting how many times I've heard that come up since motor mounts (pre made varieties) and urethane bushings were being produced by members.

Yet, never before then was this ever mentioned to me. Nor had I had any difficulties with it. It had been suggested to me that if the bolt is tight enough it will not produce any play. Either way, ever since I first heard about this like 2 years ago I've been wanting to do it.

I always thought it was built-in play from the factory, probably for the robots. The oem mounts are so soft, everything is flopping around down there anyway. I feel like the bolts don't actually see enough load to slip unless they are improperly tightened, like you mentioned.

When I made solid mounts I addressed this (non?) issue by inserting the bolt through some old, tough "fuel-rated" rubber hose. Essentially just to isolate the two metal sufraces, but also to further reduce any possible movement. I had to put a wrench on the end of the bolt and "thread" it into the solid mount with the hose (already in the mount) taking up the majority of the remaining slack/space. It takes some extra mustard to re-install, naturally.

Seems to be working well.

I highlighted this to entertain the possibility that in fact the bolt which attaches the mount could have been improperly tightened, leading to slip and subsequent "banging around" during high loads. That said, I do like your fix. I can't think of any downside, and the potential play of the assembly is greatly reduced.
 
If you tighten the bolt properly than the sleeve will be pinched between the sides of the mount and it will not slide.
