Stock upper control arms????

Alright my passanger side upper control arm is fubar. Where the bolts stick through the shock tower seems to be loose ur something, but its not. Specifically the bolt under the cruise control cable thing. Well is there any busings that should be on these bolts? Why is it clanking everytime i go up a curb or speedbump?

This sounds like you've broken the support tube loose. The eyebolts that the control arm attaches to fit into tubes that are welded into the inner fender, and if you bottom out with any regularity you can snap the welds that hold the tubes in place.

It's not a particularly challenging repair - it's just a couple of weld beads - the difficult part is getting the tubes positioned correctly so the the suspension geometry is correct.

Don't be surprised to find that the panel that the bottom of the tube attaches to has cracked in a starburst pattern radiating from the tube. The sheet metal is _very_ thin and requires a good welder (machine/person) to succeed.


Or you could simply have torn the pivot bushing apart.
