Upgrading power steering cooler?

Is there any gain upgrading the power steering cooler to a after market unit?

Yeah cooler steering fluid temps and most likely increasing the longevity of the pump and other components. It really isn't necessary TBH. The people that would most likely benefit from it the most would be those that are into autocrossing.

Yes, 1g's came with power steering coolers,its that U shape piece that hooks up the the lower portion of the hood latch

I yanked my cooling "loop" years ago and just run a rubber hose from the hard return line straight back to the reservoir, and have never had any issues. I also auto-crossed the car like that and it worked just fine.

If you are doing heavy road racing or auto-crossing and boiling the fluid, then it's probably worth putting a decent cooler in...otherwise even the factory cooler isn't really necessary. A dirty or worn out pump is probably more likely to cause problems than over-heated fluid.

YMMV of course.

There's no point in upgrading unless you auto cross and even then it doesnt really help much.. like the old saying goes "if it aint broke, dont fix it". or however it goes
