SMIC and water injection or just FMIC?

I'm leaning towards the upgraded SMIC and water injection. Shorter piping and sleeper looking although it's not as clean of an install. Will that water injection hurt the MAS at all after being vented back into the intake?

There are several ways to look at this.
1. the water will never come near the MAS for one. Well not circulated through it.
2. On most water injection kits, the nozzle is after the bov but before the TB. Between shifts very little/if any, water will be recirculated.

Most kits are turned on using the hobbs switch which is boost dependent. As soon as the TB closes, vacuum, WI shuts off. Now if you had multi nozzles(one by the TB and one before the IC) you may recirculate some of the vapor). It still wont see the MAS.

Now with the decision about the SMIC/WI or FMIC
What are your goals?
What kind of turbo are you planning to use?
Boost level?

I personally would get a FMIC. Then look into WI down the road :D

I hope that all made sence.
Good luck

Goal is to run the evoIII to the max because it's the biggest quickest spooling turbo, I can't get it under 20psi which is fine. I just need something to cool the beast before summer.

I like the smic idead just because it's stock looking, and less piping for quicker response but not sure if it's gonna be enough, so if it's not I'll have to get the water injection.

I've personally been tossing around a lot of hard call issues and this is one of them.

While I have no real proof or data that truely says so I heavily suspect a SMIC with WI would out perform a good FMIC Without water injection.

I've pretty much narrowed it down to the exact oposite of the previous posters sugestion. Do the smic and WI..look into a FMIC later if you choose. though I personally was looking to ditch the stock smic in favor of something at least a little more efficiant but cheap yet(probably not new).

Hope that helps you out.

WI will certainly help push the limits of the SMIC, but I'd think airflow through it would become the bottleneck in the system at some point. What's the max CFM you can realistically push through the stocker anyway? It's surely a lot less than a good FMIC. That said, I'm installing my FMIC tomorrow and am already actively shopping for a good WI system to supplement it; probably the CoolingMist one.

Exactly, with a good FMIC you don't just gain more cooling you gain FLOW.

If you want to max out the Evo 3 run a FMIC. I would see 15psi just a tad after 3k rpms with my Evo 3 and FMIC so you don't have to worry about lag.
