I own a 2g GST. Pretty much stock. Installing fmic and B16g.
I am thinking of Evo VIII 560 injectors and 255 walbro fuel pump.
Would this setup be good? Or bigger injectors, smaller fuel pump?
199? Possibly. And will the evo 560's bolt up?
Guy says he has them with the clips. Thanks to all :thumb:

Yeah, reading can only get you so far if you dont have a precurser of "how to" knowledge. It just seems people are kinda vague with their answers...
You're going to have to READ the answers we link you to or regurgitate. Please be concise in your criticism of our 10 year old RESOURCE, and how we can make it better. We cannot edit the software to aid your comprehension.

post what you want. like solid 12's. (we won't get into the driver)
is your motor SOLID? when was timing belt done?
fuel system, a 190lph is fine, rewire pump.
tuning, an SAFC2 will get you there but do you want to future proof?
16g turbo will be good
i would do 660cc injectors, future proof a little.
gauges or are you gunna fly by the seat of your pants?

also suspension and tires will do a lot for your time also. even motor mounts are a very good investment.

we know nothing so can only offer vague guidelines.

This is where I come in;)

I was only planning on doing one installment, of dsm's for dummies..Buuut..Since I'm the dumbest smart guy on the site..I may have to do more than 1..

What do we need in the dsm's for dummies catagory? I'll get to work?

If you don't feel capable of doing the work yourself, or able to learn then I think your best option is to find a shop and have them do it. None of the items listed are too terribly hard, but mistakes can be costly. I have seen a lot of "internet racers" make there cars slower after dropping a grand into them.

There are a lot of good shops around you in cali. Perhaps stop by and see if you like what they have to say?

Less power is diverted to flexing the mounts and more is directed to the ground.

Speaking of confused... this whole thread has me confused. I had no idea this was such complicated subject matter... Seemed pretty straight foward when I started upgrading things. :beatentodeath:

dsm's for dummies
the car you just bought is around 20 years old. a HUGE turbo should NOT be your first mod.

Agreed.

Have the car inspected for rust. Replace gaskets. Maybe even rebuild the motor if it has high mileage. Don't go upgrading things and having the car break down. It can be more expensive to fix down the road.

You could reverse that too and make a second volume called "Dummies for DSM's".ROFL

... I imagine that would be more of a photo album... and knowing my luck, someone will manage to take a picture of me looking retarded under the hood of my car.

Dsm's for dummies is registered trademark guys..I would appreciate to only be quoted by staff.

good point, sorry about that.
please don't sue me. (i work in I.T. copyright law is almost more important then actually knowing how to fix things)
:ohdamn:

we have all done something stupid under the hood of the car, being a true DSMer is knowing how to not get caught, while fixing the intake tubing with zip ties and a doubled over sock.

how about a calendar like those 'you might be a redneck' daily calendars. just by reading the post on here we could make 10 years worth of 'you might own a dsm if....' calendars

So, so far no one has helped.
So how can i do an easy tune so my car isn't running like crap after fmic
16g and 560 injectors?
Someone please without a smart ass response? Thank You :)

More afforadable, im not looking for 500hp
Just a quick afforadable mod. My budget can't get dsmlink v3
I stated that earlier this post :)

First things first, do stage 0 upgrades.

An SAFC is cheap, and good for decent power mods. If you go that route, a logging solution and a Wideband is required. DSMLink or ECMLink leaves better room for later. Standalone (i.e. MegaSquirt, AEM) is the best, can do the most, but also the most expensive. However, you can really screw up to the point of engine meltdown with Link or a standalone. SAFC works by fooling the computer into thinking there is more or less air to make the ECU compensate fuel. Therefore, the SAFC is the least dangerous to the engine for tuning, so long as you have some clue how to use it. Whichever way you go, you should start with a boost gauge and a wideband. Once you get the boost gauge, wideband, and some tuning solution, you can get a boost controller and squeezing some more power out without any more money.

A cheap way to tune your car is to get the 98 gsx stock ecu. You have to do some mods though. Then get a tactrix cable. You can download evoscan and ecutune to flash the stock ecu. You can even load the tephra mod. Look into it.

Thanks you summed it up for me. So if I decide to get Apexi Safc-2.
Which wide band would I need? How necessary would it be?

Al right, where can I buy a wideband?

You can always check here to see the list of supporting vendors. DSMtuners Supporting Vendors

And just a quick look at one of the vendors I picked from the list...STM: 90-99 DSM TUNING & ELECTRONICS

Now your probably going to ask which one you should get... :|Of course you could do a little search on your own using the search function on this forum and you'll find things like this. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/399215-wideband-selection.html

Sooner or later the spoon feeding has to stop and you'll have to learn to walk on your own.:p
