okay here's the deal, i was getting some repairs done to my car and I had just bought this upper intercooler pipe off ebay that came with a Greddy type RS bov, and a new throttle body. I had the mechanic shop install it. They said it took them 2 hours to get on and that they were having a lot of troubles (they aren't experienced with these type of cars), but the pipe does all of this:

the bov is hitting my hood and the hood pops up a little. Also the pipe is rubbing on the coolant cap and is rubbing on my hood too. I know they didn't install it right and the coupling that's connected to the throttle body is not on all the way. You can tell it's kind of hurting the performance of the piping.

So what i'm asking is has anyone bought this kit from ebay before??? Also, could some of you guys send me pics of your engine bay so I can see the right route for this piping and i can fix it.

Thanks a lot to any of you for helping me out with pics or advice.

Do you have a link to the pipe on ebay so we can see which one your talking about for sure?

2 hours for an uicp? ouchies.

anywho, yeah. link us to the ebay kit.

yeah that's what I said. When I knew it took them that long something wasn't right..

Here's the link, but instead of the type S it says you get with the kit I got the type rs:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33742&item=7971452939&rd=1

Either paste this in and it will work, or if you have troubles, which I don't think you would, I went under cars and parts and searched under 90 eclipse...I had to go through a couple pages. Its the kit labeled 90-94 upper intercooler piping kit with Greddy type S...Thanks and please someone help me out. I'm going to this coming weekend take it off and install it again hopefully with some help from you guys!

Thanks again
Chris

HERE'S THE UICP.LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN THINK OF A BETTER WAY TO ROUTE THIS..

FIRST OFF YOU HAVE 2 BOV A 1G AND THE RS! :thumb: try flipping the pipe with the bov on it the other way and see if that works better. BEWARE OF EBAY MAN. i seen that kit before and REMEMBER you get what you pay for! good luck man

:dsm: eclipse :talon: talon :laser: laser

it looks like from the pic you provided and the pic on ebay that the longer pipe is backwards, you might be able to flip it around and it looks like it might fit, the blow-off valve should be closer to the air filter, i think.
hope this helps

edit: you beat me to it.

LOL, try flipping the pipe, might have to turn the bov around also. Get the stock bov and stuff outta there and block the recirc tube on the intake unless you can then force the recirc tube on the rs somehow.

it looks like they left half of the stock upper pipe in there and the stock bov. i also think the put the pipe in backward and upside down.

wow just like the 3 other people put the same thing i was typing

i would love to see how these mechanics would put an exhaust on... can facing the front of the car... damn.

for the record, that thing is on backwards. take it off and turn it around and it will work.

btw... it should not take 2 hours to put on a damn pipe. it takes like 15 min tops.

Yeah I know it was done wrong the minute they told me how long it took, but I tried taking advantage of them doing the other work and thought I'd have them take care of this. Since I'm in school i don't have a place to work on my car. Sucks. Anyways, I'll be taking this off this weekend and fixing it. They left the stock BOV in there to plug off the bov return tube, but I have a new intake to put on and the intake eliminates the bov return tube.
Thank you everyone for your replies. I'll make it final that it's on backwards which I thought as one said the bov should be closer. Thanks for helping..... :dsm:

Ouch that you paid someone to do that, but seriously you only need a few simple tools to flip it around and should be able to do it in your driveway in fifteen minutes.

Unless Ebay did me wrong, I'm lost. Can someone give like step by step of what they think this should look like. I had myself and a buddy of mine who knows a good amount about cars, but he has a 300zx without turbo, so he's a little hazy on turbo issues, but anyways we both tried messing with the rearranging of the pipes and still we couldn't figure it out. I'm not stupid!! But this is weird as hell. Anyone know person with these pipes??? PLEASE HELP!!! This is retarded, or maybe I am!

:dsm:

To give an idea, b/c the picture doesn't show, but it came with:

throttle body - on right
two pipes - long and short with curve.

I have the throttle body connected to the long one, then the long one connects to the smaller where it curves down into the smic. Is that right, or is the small one go on after the throttle body? We tried, but man someone help..this is stupid

the order should go something like this:

Side mount, up to small curved pipe, out to long curved pipe (try flipping the big one the other way so the BOV is next to the intake, and facing down at the ground, like every other 1g DSM without a blow thru set up), up to the Throttle Body piece.

if you have to go to the gallery section and look at 1g engine bay pics. or perhaps do a SEARCH in the tech artical section or the VFAQ.

good luck, let us know how you make out.

i just read this thread and i cant stop laughing...LOL...that thing is so backwards...i wonder what they did with the throttle body section of the pipe...LOL...

o yeah...your not suppose to have a bov that vents to the atmosphere unless your running a gm maft or something...

while the piping being all screwed up is not going to help things, running that blow off valve without recirculating it back into the intake is going to cause the car to run like crap normally, at least at idle. I think you can change the end on the greddy valve to allow it to recirculate. to be open like that you normally have to have a blow thru style maf, not the stock maf sensor.

Wow! that is the dumbest thing ive ever seen. Never Never never never never never never take your car there again if you wanna see it running. :nono:  :barf:

actually... now that i look at it, it looks like the bov flange is on the wrong side of the pipe... look at the lengths on either side of the pipe.

wow, that is a piece of work. I'm not even able to imagine how that pipe is supposed to go on. I'd email the guy you bought it from. You could have made your own UIC pipe for much less, and it would have fit much better. There's an excellent tech article on here on how to make your own, go check it out and ditch that thing you have on there right now.

Yeah i had a bad feeling about this pipe. I'm pretty sure I'll never go back there for any performance work. Man this sucks. Well I feel like a dumba$$ with all of this. I'm glad school is over so i can finally be back at home with my garage and tools. thanks everyone for your laughs and help. this is some funny stuff. They need to make a thread with classic threads like this so we can laugh at times. Take it easy and if anyone has a UICP for sale let me know! Time to get rid of this. Anyone want a Type RS BOV? Actually I did just get a LT1 Maf, but I'm not sure if I want to spend the money for the translator. It's off my cousins GTP that he has done a custom turbo setup. It's running right now about 550-600hp. I just need to do some research and plan better!
Peace out
