I will be building up my 7bolt gst this may with the following parts:
Ross/eagle combo .20 over
hks 264/264 cams,and springs.
complete gasket,seals top and bottom. along with guides and viton seals
bored 57mm tb
magnus smim
fmic with blow through set up
greddy rz bov
fp manifold
ported evo3 o2 housing
t04b vtrim bullseye power turbochager
precision injectors 550 cc
fuel lab fpr
cop set up
oil catch can
hallman mbc
koyo racing rad with gates hoses
water pump and oil pump oem.
complete timing set
catback and down pipe
Findanza flywheel with act 2100 clutch kit
all arp hardware mains,head,turpb bolts ect..

sorry about the long list. My concern is do I have the proper injector size for this turbocharger to run it in the 15-20psi range?
I already have a walbro 190 rewired in the tank. Along with a eprom thats been chipped for 550cc.(bought it this way) I plan on getting dsm-link before may though.
I will provide picts as I progress with this build.

If you plan on getting DSMlink, I would get something larger than 550's. You obviously can run as large as you want with link, so why not take advantage of that?

Just a few other comments/suggestions.

Any reason you're going with a 57mm throttle body? I would at least go with a 1g (60mm).

I would use OEM turbo bolts/washers, not ARP stuff.

I would stick with the stock ignition system unless you plan on getting a CDI to support the COP.

While you're in there, why not eliminate the balance shafts?

Any plans on getting Prothane/solid motor mounts?
 
I have already done the motor mounts with prothane inserts.

As far as the injector size I'm still learning when it comes too tuning. It is not a popular thing to do in Arkansas unless your dropping in a big block. My hp goal is 350-400

The tb was already on the car when I bought it is all.

There are lot's of different companies that have balance eliminator kits. I was looking at AMS kit for 150.00. I just have not made up my mind yet.
 
I agree with ditching the arp turbo bolts they stretch and snap. Its better to go with oem turbo bolts that are made with hardend steel. I am looking to switch to those myself. I agree to with the larger injectors. I ran 1000ccs with my stock turbo for the longest while. That is dsmlink though.
 
Wow I will use the oem turbo bolts. Is it possible to have a stud set up for the turbo to manifold? As I have drilled and used an ease out tool to remove broken turbo bolts.

As far as the injectors if I run bigger than 550cc am gonna have to get a 255 high flow correct?

Is this your end goal, or just the goal for the near future? If it's your end goal, I'd probably still go a bit bigger just to be safe. But if it's not your final goal (which I doubt it is once you feel it :sneaky:), I'd go with at least 1000cc. I'm running 1150cc injectors with a small 16g and stock 7 bolt. Overkill - yes. But I hopefully won't have to replace them for a while.

If you're only shooting for 350-400, an SMIM is not needed. There are people making well over that using a stock 2g manifold.

Forget the kits. Buy them from an OEM supplier (ExtremePsi for example).

MD103722 - Front Balance shaft bearing
MD040597 - Rear Balance shaft bearing
MD092785 - Balance shaft cap
MD098626 - Balance shaft stub
MD128107 - Balance shaft spacer

These are the same pieces that come in the FFWD kit.
 
Yes OEM manifold to turbo bolts, like the other have said. Also normally guys switch from the factory setup of 3 bolts & one stud to 4 bolts as it makes the turbo much easier to remove/install, vs having a long stud permantly installed in it (have to remember their like 4" long).

Also why the Vtrim? I would have to recommend you do a little more research before purchasing this turbo, I don't think you'll be happy. It is very common to have surge issues & there are alot better turbo's in that kind of power/price range. If you want to stay Bullseye, go with their 50 trim, its a much better turbo & I'm sure you'll be alot happier with the decision.

For injectors, go larger then 550's as you'll run out of fuel. If you run DSMLink I would recommend 750 min & my advice would be their new 1050's. That way no need to upgrade in the future when your goals change (as they always seem to), plus they have a better, flow matched, spray pattern.
 
That is my starter goal (350-400). I would love to see the numbers in the 500-700 range. But I need to take baby steps first.

I believe the flange on the smim is for a 1g. I will have to contact JNZ to be certain.

Yes, but I don't know if a stud set would work well with the FP exhaust manifold. I've only seen them installed with bolts. Usually studs are used with tubular manifolds where you can't get a bolt in there.

What does removing broken turbo bolts have to do with a stud set? Just want to eliminate the possibility of this happening again? If you're worried, just make sure to heat cycle the car a bunch of times and hose down with PB Blaster. They should remove easily.

I would at least rewire the 190lph for now. If you can, I'd get a 255lph (and rewire it) and an AFPR that way you're set.
 
I have read about the surge problems and found a lot of mixed feelings concerning this turbo. So I decided to take a chance and can only hope for the best. And I was under the assumption that this was a 50 trim. Which assumption is the mother of all screw ups.

The 190 pump is already rewired. Thanks again for all of those posting about this set-up. As I'm constantly combing over the search section with my never ending questions.
