So I have been saving money like crazy for the last few years and I am finally going to build the Talon up, it is a 1991 Eagle Talon TSI AWD. The tranny and motor are starting to go bad so I figured I would just rebuild both since I plan on making roughly 400AWHP give or take 25AWHP. Now here is my question(s) what kind of rebuild should I do? I plan on taking the car to English Racing and having him rebuild both but I was wondering on what parts to order for the engine. I was thinking 8.5 compression Ross or wiseco pistons and Eagle Rods (maybe make a stroker?), all new gaskets, rebuilt head maybe a port job. Now I want this to be very streetable and reliable as it can be without being broken every month or week.

So far my mods are ACT 2600 with street disc, MBC with boost gauge set to 13-14PSI for now, SBR ported exhaust manifold, 3" O2 eliminator exhaust, and intake

Things I need help on

Cams: Stick with stock or buy different ones? I don't plan on revving past 7.5K

Intake manifold: I tihnk stock would be fine for me but if I need a better one which would everyone prefer, Magnus?

Turbo: Leaning towards a 50-trim but I have no idea on the differences between them or what company to buy from, I would like one that is good for internal wastegate. Also would like something that spools fully below 4K if possible

Fuel: 880's Walbro 255LPH, AFPR, fuel pressure gauge

FMIC: Not sure on what to get here either except I would like a Maft-T so I can vent for hte ricer in me and probably a HKS SSQ or Tial BOV

DSMLINK: I already have a laptop just need to software and programs and logging software

Meth injection: Not sure about the set-up yet, was thinking this or using a small shot of nitrous

I know I am missing a few things but any help would be great.

Take your car to Lucas at English Racing. He's the best best DSM builder around. Guy knows more than you could imagine. I'm doing a 6 bolt build right now, and Lucas has been a huge help. Tell him what your goals are, and he'll tell you what you should buy. Then put it together for you, drop it in, then tune it for you.

You should ask him to tell you about the meth injection kits. If they are done right, they are the best modification you can do. They allow you to safely run high amounts of boost on low octane fuel by lowering intake temperatures, which cuts down predetonation/knock.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I live in Vancouver, about 7 hours southwest of you. But I'm always glad to help.

Is the stroker kit worth it? I know about meth injection(not sure if I should do that or nitrous), I was going to Buy Lucas's VR-4 but didn't. What kind of cams should I get? I plan on spending a little over 10K but thats for everything including a rebuild motor and tranny. Can anyone help me with turbo choices? I want to find something that is streetable which is 3500-4000 for full boost and I don't plan on going past 7.5K so keep that in mind for turbos. I also want to see if I can hit 400AWHP but not be pushing everything to the very limit. Thanks again everyone for the help already. I think I will calll Lucas when I go back home.

Definetly do Meth injection over NOS. NOS should seriously be used for race only apps in my opinion. Meth injection helps your car by running cooler air in which is more dense, which also enables you to run lower octane because of the cooler air, no real danger on meth injection that is set up right. NOS on the other hand can destroy your engine very fast, especially with high HP jets/nozzles. I said can because if set up properly it can be great, but the risk in my opinion is just not worth it for a street/daily driver ride. I would also recommend the Brian Crower 272's for cams. Very nice cams for a very nice price. Dont plan on a stock idle though, they sound bad ass. Turbo desision is alittle harder to recomend. I would do a search for pump gas turbo's. I have heard the gt35r is a really nice turbo, but i think that might be a wee bit big for your 400HP app.

The problem with turbos that big is that they really need to be external wastegate and I would have to get a whole new exhaust for it and that would cost more $$$ which I don't think I will have. I only plan on putting 15K tops into it but that includes getting the engine and tranny rebuilt and I would probably have the other stuff mods just installed with the engine and tranny. I plan on having Lucas English doing the rebuilds. I'll call him when I get back home in a week and see what he thinks.
