unwanted fluttering sound, but not from the BOV?

I'm posting this question for another DSM friend.

He has a 91 Tsi with a 14b in good shape, dejontool intake and UICP, 1st gen BOV and stock 1g MAS (recurculating of course).

Ever since he has owned the car, he gets a fluttering sound from the BOV from his car. His BOV is not the culprit though, because I put it on my car and it stopped fluttering, and my BOV started to flutter on his car.

Anyone have an idea of what's causing this?

Are both of you using your boost source from the same place?

yeah the only time i got my bov to flutter was when the pressure line came off or was in some way messed up. Thats the first thing i would check on his car, to make sure there is a dedicated line, that its the right size, and its coming from the right place. Make sure there are no "T's" on the line going somewhere else (mbc, boost gauge, etc.)

could it be compressor house surge my friends car made a fluttering sound and that was his problem

I have the fluttering sound problem WOT on my T3/T4 60 trim.
One of the hsings I believe are too small.
