Whenever I go over bumps or my subs hit hard there is a something in the roof right behind the sunroof opening where the little cover is pushed back. When I push up on the cover, it stops rattling so maybe it's that? But I swear sometimes it even does it when the roof is shut and the cover is covering the sunroof. Is there something loose up there? Anybody else ever have this problem? I've got a 97 GSX if that helps.

I would get a Torx screwdriver and open your sunroof enough to get at all the screws and just tighten everything down. My sunroof used to start flapping whenever I went over 70. Tightened those screws and it stopped completely.

I've already done that bec/ it was like that when I first bought the car. But the rattling I'm hearing is coming from inbetween the headliner and the roof. I'm beginning to think it's the cover, cuz when the roof is open and the cover is back in the roof, I push up on it and it stops rattling. Can I take that cover off?

Not to be rude or anything, but I'm not quite sure you guys are understanding me fully, or maybe I just haven't explained it well enough. The rattling that I'm talking about has nothing to do with the sunroof itself. I've already tightened those screws, the sunroof is as tight as it'll ever be.

I'm actually starting to think that it's the sunroof shade, so to restate my question, is there anyway I can take this off or stop it from rattling when it's pushed back inbetween that roof and headliner?

I had a similar problem back when I had a sunroof (sniffle...sniffle) on my ESi. It's been awhile, but I'll do my best to remember. Here we go...

In the sunroof shade, there is a long metal wire (like a coat-hanger) that runs from driver side to passenger side, with a hook or loop bend at each end. Mine would come out of its guides and rattle on every bump, nook, and cranny. To get at it, I think I put the sunroof all the way open and then pulled the shade closed. This should give you access to the area on the shade that faces the sunroof glass, which is where the metal coat hanger thingy is. If the metal wire is sticking up, you can play with it to verify that it is the sound you're hearing. Push it back down to where it should be--it's got a few guides cut into the plastic along its route, I think.

Hope this is it.

My sunroof shade is completely broken.. it's just kinda stuck up there to block out the sun, but it's all loose and rattles about 70% of the time i'm driving. It actually fell out on my head once when i hit a giant bump... It's been like that since i've had the car unfortunately.

Thanks a lot man, that's exactly what I was looking for. I'm gonna go check it out right now. I'll let everyone know how it went. Thanks.

Edit: I just went out and looked at it, and I realized, the shade won't close w/ the sunroof open, so I don't know how the hell you did it. LOL. But anyways, I closed the roof and closed the shade, and looked through the glass and those metal things are still intact. hmmm. I'm confused.
